I had intended to put this up a while ago, but got snowed under with 'stuff' so forgot about it. Still, as I said elsewhere...

Inspiration is a very strange thing. On this occasion there were a number of quite separate things going on in my world.

It was early spring and someone had commented on magnificant sunrises they were seeing. My reply was that lately, with almost continuous rain, it seemed all my sunrises were just shades of grey. Someone else commented that it sounded like a song title.

At that time I had just devised a new voice patch for my favourite synthesiser, and had recorded just a few chords. Quite unexpectedtly I played a few notes that exactly fitted the phrase 'All of my sunrises are shades of grey'.

Some six months previously, I had gone to the funeral of a very dear friend and had been deeply touched by how alone his widow suddenly looked. This must have been going round in the back of my mind, and once triggered by that phrase, and the sad melody, the entire song was written and the music substantially recorded in one day. Normally a composition takes months for me to develop.

My next problem was singing. I collaborated with a friend who did a very good job, but have always wanted to sing it myself. It has taken about two years to get up to my current standard. This is not good, but I think is just about listenable.

It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently no longer an 'elderly', now a 'senior'! Is that promotion?

Beautiful....

*sniff*

I really like this tune. Your voice is fine, too....it fits the song well.

I vaguely recall the 1st sketch of this one, you did with James many months ago.
This is very good, the vocals are focused for this sad mood. Effective.

Cheers

Nice work, folderol.

i'm looking forward to hearing this.
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

Nice, but it sounds to me like all the synth voices move in a similar motion until about 2:30. I could not help but notice cause it was pretty consistant.

Once again thank you very much for your comments everyone.
@trewq
There are actually only 3 synth voices. Bass, Whistle at the end, everything else! It's all chord progressions moving around the same area, with a faint melody 'follower'.

Time for a bump-ette?
Yes I think so.

I knew I missed something and went to dig for it ... and am so glad I did

Will, I am speechless. This is the most beautiful and touching thing you've ever done. It gave me massive shivers like no song did for a very long time.

Every time you use autotune, God kills a kitten.
Please, think of the kittens.
