mschuett wrote:Hi everyone,

I'm Mikael from Denmark, the composer of "Hard Core Cherry". I'm just a school teacher with an expensive hobby:-) I'm honored to be in such good company, it's my first time to enter a contest like this and event though my entry didn't get any votes (not even my own:-), I don't feel completely out of place here.

It's been fun, congrats to the winners and Greg, make it an annual event, please!
Hi Mikael, I'm completely in agreement with you! And by the way, I enjoyed your song and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

We need to get more votes in next time -- and I'm certain we will. Greg and I are already dissecting the vote turnout and promotion on this contest and determining how to get a bigger turn out next time! As I wrote in an earlier post, there wasn't a bad entry in the entire bunch, which is pretty surprising. Candidly, I kept teasing Greg prior to him launching this contest that there would probably be some entries that would make him cringe as I've seen in every KVR song contest, but to my (and Greg's surprise) every single entry was really good. Almost to the point where it's weird to see not one bad entry (man, I'm glad as an adviser to Greg that I couldn't enter!). In fact, in the seven years I have been a KVR member I've never seen a contest with 100% quality entries like this one. I mean, I loved it because I was turned out to some talented musicians I was not aware of prior to this. I would very much love to hear more music from everyone who entered and would be grateful if some of the other entrants would include more info on where to find more of their music. This was a great way to discover talent at KVR I was unaware of prior this contest.

Please, everyone who hasn't already, I would be grateful to have a link to more of your music. (A big nudge to the composer of "Landscape Sunrise." Come on, I've made a bunch of posts telling everyone how much I love your song, please let me know where I can check out more of your music and your bio -- your playing is gorgeous! If not, Greg, do you have permission to publish more info on this artist?)

Hi Everyone,

I'm the Landscape Sunrise composer, and I just wanted to belatedly say how incredibly impressed I was and am with every single one of the entries. There's obviously a very talented and diverse burgeoning virtual community of people here using Greg's libraries, which to me is evidence of how good they really are. For the record, my vote literally could've gone to any of you depending on the day and mood, but the jazz lover in me ultimately sent it to John Rochon's Piece for Pear, along with several honorary votes to nearly all of Greg's amazing but totally ineligible Orange Tree demos!

eDrummist, thank-you SO much for all your kind words about my little piece; that it stands up to repeated listenings and earned a spot on your hard drive is truly a meaningful compliment, and I genuinely appreciate it (& derive motivation from it!). I'm going through a bit of a musical self-reinvention phase at the moment, so any existing musical bio and presentation of my past music is in need of serious refurbishment! Please stay "tuned"....

Looking forward to the next contest!

Peter
