hello i was wondering if anyone can help. i use a roland mv 8800 for production work. i am trying to incorporate cantabile in my setup to use as a sound module of vsti. i use sampletank and would like to know how to route each midi channel so i can use it how it should be used. brass ch 1, gtr ch 2. i am trying to have each sound on its on midi channel. not the same as the multi output of sound routing question i think. i ant to use like if you were using a proteus 2000. i hope you understand what i am trying to say. i am new to forums.
I am destined to do great things!

I've read your question but I am not sure if I understand right or can help...
Cantabile routes all channels from all or the choosen port(s) to a rack. If you need to change anything here, the rack provides many midi manipulation filters at "split/trans" -> midi filters
Don't know about sampletank in detail - is this multitimbral? If so you have to assign the appropriate sounds there to the channels slots you want.
Probably this does not help and sounds stupid - feel free to explain more in detail what you want to do.

...well, you need the midi routing table then. As far as I remember this is only availiable in Cantabile Performer.
There are some threads lately that point out that this functionallity is working technically somehow but hard to operate...
I myself have already written about this - with no response so far.
The routing table creates somtimes odd effects. You can specify bank/patch nubers there too - but it's numbers and inconvenient typing stuff...
I don't know if Brad plans adds here... but I also think some GUI improvements could help.
I think midi routings to external gear should be availiable in the racks stack too - to make midi gear appear like software instruments. To make that perfect such a rack should have an individual audio in so that there could be some kind of seamless integration of external HW that does not work like a Virus with the TI plugin...

I've just read this entire thread again and I'm not sure I really understand the exact issue. In short, the intention is that using Performer you use Trigger to send program/bank changes when sub-session are loaded, and the routing table to route appropriate MIDI events to appropriate devices.
Please post more detail if you still need help.

I guess kaliwild's difficulties focus the same "problem" as I've found when using the midi routing table... described in my other thread...
