Looks decent but I'm waiting until it has the ability to load your own samples. Right now you are stuck with the samples it comes with.
I use Beatmaker http://intua.net/products.html on my ipod to sketch out loops and things while I'm waiting around at various places.
With Beatmaker you can at least load your own samples, but there is no Piano roll, it's just a step sequencer.
You can automate the pitch though per step at least.
You can also export your own drum kits, loops, songs, and MIDI files as well.

Excellent! I came across it as i was looking for info on the qy70 and it definitely shows the potential for mobile music making. I just ordered an ipod touch so i'm looking forward to trying all this stuff out!psylevation wrote:Looks decent but I'm waiting until it has the ability to load your own samples. Thanks for the heads up on that! This looks like the most fully featured iPhone app I've seen yet. Anything else I should check out? I would love Reason for the iPhone plus export capability.psylevation wrote: I use Beatmaker http://intua.net/products.html on my ipod to sketch out loops and things while I'm waiting around at various places.

There are a lot of great apps for music making/training on the Iphone/Ipod.
Touch Osc is essentially a MINI Lemur which allows you to make custom control layouts with multiple pages.
Since the Ipod/Iphone has wireless you can set up an Ad-hoc network with your laptop (meaning you don't need a router) to control anything you choose with TouchOsc.
http://hexler.net/software/touchosc
Noise.io is a fully featured synthesizer with sequencer that sounds very very good. It's hard to believe it's an app on an Ipod/Iphone.
You can export your sequences and load them directly into Beatmaker. They've worked together to make sure Beatmaker can see the Noise.io export folder.
http://noise.io/features/overview
There is also a new program by Jordan Rudess called hexatone pro, it's a 6-directional drum machine and melodic sequence generator that also exports directly to Beatmaker. I havn't used this one but it looks interesting.
http://www.amidio.com/
There is a great ear training app called "Relative Pitch".
I use the Cubase IC transport controller for the Ipod.
Also there is a Novation Automap controller app which gives you use of the Automap software even if you don't own a novation piece of hardware, it works just like their current hardware. On the app you get 2 sliders and a bunch of buttons, but you get infinite pages so you could control your whole studio from you Ipod.
Anyway thats a start...there are more for sure, have fun, just try not to get addicted and spend $50 a month or something on Ipod apps

Is that an admission?
There's seems to be a lot of good stuff out there and intua looks like a good app for taking sounds and samples from other apps and putting them together. Btw is it possible to sync these apps to an external clock? or do you have to sample everything an export it? Anyway will check these all out when i get it. Cheers!

Beatmaker is cool. Great interface and controls.. I just wish you could create tracks with more than one kit.

Most of the apps have a BPM control and can export perfect loops. Noise.io for example lets you select how long you want to record for in bars and then it has a count in metronome before recording starts. It's very easy if you program a sequence, you just select the bars you want and then press right at the begining and you have a perfect recording ready to be put into Beatmaker or an app on your computer.

I agree, but it's nice for getting some loops down and exporting later.spaceman wrote:Beatmaker is cool. Great interface and controls.. I just wish you could create tracks with more than one kit.

This is extremely cool, even aside from being an iPhone app.psylevation wrote:

But it's only for mac.

Damnit! I kept going to the Novation website to see "Automap for iPhone Coming Soon" and it's actually been out for almost as long as I've had my phone!psylevation wrote:
