The sounds are very good but I think the GUI is godawful

Horrible colour-scheme, why not go for a real retro GUI like ymVST or something. Ohwell, the sounds are great though.

Well, first its fully skinable, as in make it 320x240 in tiny fonts and only show the UI features you care about, (XMLs and PNGS), so take matters into your own hands!
I personally thought that there were plenty of "pixelised" 8bit VSTi out there.

Yes the mac version and pc will be relased at the same time.
