Cubase. Since the upgrade, no crashy.
Berfab
So many plugins, so little time...

Post

No crashes in SawStudio Midi Workshop using VSTi. I have played with the keys and with VG99. Switching patches no issues.

Post

No crashes in Reaper after registration (played for 30 minutes, tried all possible patch changes/parameter modifications/saving presets). Frankly, I don't have an explanation for such weird behaviour as the trial version did crash Reaper evry now and then, could effectively run in 'dedicated mode' though.

There has been quite a lot going on these days around the web about Ultra Analog VS-1 and audioMIDI.com's "no-brainer" promotion. It seems that there is a lot of confusion too. So here is some information that will hopefully clear things up.

About the demo/trial version
Last week there was a small period of time where the retail and demo/trial versions where not the same. Therefore, some of you might have try an older version of Ultra Analog VA-1. You can download the latest trial version at the address below.

About the retail version
For those who purchased Ultra Analog VA-1 from audioMIDI.com (many thanks!), it's possible that you've got an older build of version 1.1.2. If the date in the about box of the instrument is not Oct 13, 2009, please download the latest build at the address below.

Retail vs. trial/demo version
Our trial/demo versions can't be authorized, only the retail can. Also, the retail version runs with all the functionalities for 15 days; after that, the authorization process must be completed to use the instrument. For those who didn't receive their serial number yet, you have an extra 11 days from audioMIDI.com's 4-day processing time.

If you didn't receive your serial number after 4 days and you've checked your junk/spam email folder, please contact audioMIDI.com via the following numbers from 8 AM to 6 PM standard pacific time. You can use audioMIDI.com's Live Chat too.

Informative bug reports
We are always happy to receive bug reports from our users. To help us find and solve problems, please include the following information when sending a bug report. Also, make sure that you are using the latest version before submitting a bug report.

1. Platform with version, e.g.: Mac OS X 10.5.8, Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista 64-bit;
2. Host sequencer with version, e.g.: Live 8.0.5, Cubase 5.0.1, Sonar 7.0.3 64-bit;
3. Plug-in format used, e.g.: VST, RTAS, AU;
4. Instrument version and date (from the plug-in's About dialog), e.g.: 1.1.2, Oct 13, 2009;
5. Procedure to reproduce the bug or crash, as detailed as possible, e.g.: Launch Pro Tools. Create new session. Create new instrument track. Insert Ultra Analog. Save Session. Close session from File menu. Pro Tools crashes;
6. Does the bug or crash happens systematically or occasionally?

Number five is really important because, without a procedure, there is not much we can do if we can't reproduce a bug in-house. Finally, please send us your bug reports directly at support@applied-acoustics.com.

Thank you all for your help and enthusiasm!

Thanks for your time Eric.

I will give this a go.

Maybe what is (or was) confusing is that there are two different bulids with the same version number.
If the newest build was called 1.1.3, then this may not have happened,

cheers

No problems with v1.1.2 here in Live 8.0.5 (on Windows Vista) or Standalone. I purchased Ultra Analog some years ago as part of the AAS Modeling Collection. I can highly recommend the commercial "Analog Essentials" bank, available at AAS.

Since they all use physical modeling the AAS synth use quite a lot CPU, that's one of the problems. In the past Tassman 4 was quite unstable which is better with the new update. Seems like AAS updated most of their synths/instruments now.

BTW a nice Ultra Analog alternative for Ableton Live users is "Ableton Analog" which AAS made in cooperation with Ableton. It's included in the Ableton Suite along with other AAS instruments. The sound is almost identical to UA and the interface of Analog is quite nice IMO.

Not 'almost'. It's identical. Same synth, just without effects. (However I think the AAS effects are nice).

I still bought the 15 dollar ultra analog even though I already have ableton's analog. I prefer having it as a VST for many reasons.

... Just an update.

Eric got back to me yesterday night. Said he had found the issue and it would be fixed in the next update. In the meanwhile he offered an easy workaround.

Great service. :)

Just crashed Live 8 again... Latest build of UA here. Crashes every session that I try it, always when changing patches (but not every patch change, just a random one at some point will freeze Live completely).

No ... Sonar. Any reason why you didn't make it part of your poll?

You pay 8% for a product and what do you expect?

I paid 100% for it and it never fails me. 8)

it works great on Logic 9 in Leopard. Maybe Snow Leopard support isn't very stable.

So, I downloaded the "new build" of the synth, which strangely enough is exactly the same size as the one I already had downloaded.

And it crashes Cubase 5.01 immediately the first time I change the patch.
