4 gb of ram is not an option.

If you literally had to have at least 4GB of available RAM, the system requirements would say 64-bit operating systems only, so I think not. Don't forget you will also be able to load Trilian's content into Omnisphere, if I understand correctly, and Omnisphere runs on systems with only 2GB of RAM.

I got a reply from Spectrasonics.
Trilian is totally different from Trilogy - it can require a lot more power, so just be aware that it's possible for it to exceed the limits of your laptop. We'd recommend keeping Trilogy installed on your laptop if you have performance issues.
They were being honest! My Laptop can't handle Trillian!

I got to see it at a special event in LA on Friday. Vast improvement over Trilogy and the synth basses are sick: nice and current. At the moment there is just a handful of those, but more are coming! Woot!

I don't know what the specs are for Trillian but for Trilian they're the same as Omnisphere which now says 4GB RAM but can actually run on 2GB also.
Picky? maybe.

I can get an NFR upgrade for 99 Dollars. Just checked with the Spectrasonics Shop. If someone can come back and demonstrate that the majority of Presets will run effectively, using very little RAM, then I'd be interested. The Sample Libraries I have for Kontakt sometimes cost more than the overall upgrade price to Trilian for Trilogy users. :)

Did you read my post above? I'm seriously thinking about this now! I want a decent Chapman Stick and maybe a P-Bass. If I can get X amount of Presets running on my PC (as is) for 99 Dollars, I'll be laughing. No doubt too, I will eventually upgrade my Laptop to something more powerful. Bearing all this (and you good advice/suggestion) in mind, this could be a VERY good move for me!:)

Well, yes, I just can say that I'm happy I have retired my old AMD 3200+ 10 weeks ago. But I certainly see your point...

Guys, I have the Chapman Stick - Full running with only 2 GB of RAM installed (on Windows XP SP2). All the synth basses load up just fine. I have yet to try the "larger" acoustic basses, however.

Can you give us some samplings?
Well if I felt like I could give you some good examples, I would. :) My specialty is electronic music and I do indeed plan on producing a track this week using those bass sounds. I could post that here for you to check out (but I'm sure I won't be the only one doing this). I know the Spectrasonics crew are working on demos and can give you a better representation of the sounds like the Chapman Stick than I can. Patience, my friend.

You are welcome. It's worth pointing out that Trilian has some optimization tricks. The reference guide that comes with Trilian offers up some tips on this so you can run Trilian with less RAM. There is, of course a bit of sacrifice to the amount of samples you have access to, but if you're on a 32bit OS, at least it's an option.
