hi everybody!! i have a pcr-m50 with 2 broken key (c-1 & tempo)

i hit c1 a bit hard and now it works normally !
the tempo is working if i hit it very hard (and i mean very very hard) but then it will not return to normal (i get lucky only once ;p)

any trick to make it work??
if i try to open the unit and clean it from inside ? will be any chance?
what you think? worth the risk?

yup, that happened to mine too. i sent it to edirol and they fixed it for free (apparently a known failure).

edit: i tried to open it up and fix it myself, but the failure is due to a part that needs to be replaced.

mine is out of guaranty

so i guess ill go for a new one ...

wait!

my was out of warranty too (by years!).

i should have mentioned that. i fully expected to get a bill, but they just returned it unexpectedly fixed. no questions asked.

so they know about it, and appear to be taking care of customers.

give it a try. i'm sure you can save buying a new one. my works like new again.

I finally sent my (first series) PCR-30 off for factory service. I had it back in my hands in a matter of 2.5 weeks, most of that being shipping time.

No undue questions asked from them. I told them the problem, they looked it up and saw there was a defect, and there was no charge to me even though it was years out of warranty. You do have to pay for shipping to the factory, but it can be via any carrier of your choice.

The keyboard action itself is a lot more solid now: I wonder how much of it they replaced! Better than it's ever felt, predictable velocity in a sane range, and best of all no dead keys!

Great experience. Edirol will keep me as a customer!

This reminds me that I really need to give mine a thorough testing. Last time I used it, I thought I noticed some velocity abnormalities. About time...

!ATTENTION:

For any of you who have had the dead key problem on a PCR controller.. just get it fixed! It was a defect. I called my nearest Roland service center and told them I had enough electronic experience to install it, and so they sent me the new replacement version of the rubber keypads that go under the keys. They charged me nothing even though it was 3 yrs old. Even if they did charge, I'm sure it would have been really cheap just to get the pads sent out. They're easy as can be to put in.. you just take it apart and as long as you're not too daft you'll have no probs replacing it. I got mine sorted and all's well ever since.

Just contacted Roland Repairs and was not well recieved

They are rude

And talked down to me as though I were some moron (maybe I am?)

Thankfully, you're about the only poster that's had that response from them. I found them to be beyond reproach. Which country's service did you contact?

Thankfully, you're about the only poster that's had that response from them. I found them to be beyond reproach. Which country's service did you contact?

I called the number they gave me: I had to pay as it was not an 800 or so

Hrm, yeah: Roland-US for me. Very friendly service. Guess mileage (or kms!) varies between countries.
