It's true, I'm downloading it now!. And you don't need to own any FXpansion product, just make an account (and download Orca too, BTW).

Yes, you're right. There IS a demo for registered users (version 1.0.2.2).aMUSEd wrote:Well I don't know about anyone else but there is a demo version in my FXPansion user area and it looks like its there for anyone with an FXpansion account.

And yeah Orca is a bizarre little synth.
- edit ---
On the other hand, now that its installed, SynthSquad causes my DAW to stop responding, and it just sits there. Wtf.

This account is dormant, I am no longer employed by FXpansion / ROLI.

Just to clarify this - external audio appears in place of any *white noise* source. Therefore, in Cypher, you'll hear the signal on any of the 3 oscs with the Blend knob turned fully to the right, and the 'Pink' button disabled. The external audio can be used as an FM/WM source, but cannot itself be FM'd/WM'd.ZenPunkHippy wrote: Cypher: the first oscillator becomes the external source, and yes you can mangle the the incoming sound beyond recognition using the 2nd and 3rd oscillators. Very cool.
Amber: the 2' oscillator in the synth section becomes the external source. The formant filter is obviously great for processing pads, among other sounds. Ensure the sustain setting for the synth envelope is set so the sound does not decay after note on.
In Amber there is no 2' slider on the Synth section - it's the Noise slider.
In all the FX versions, the 'Noise' labels are changed to 'Ext'.

Thanks - I think it would be useful to have a bank of fx patches though so people have somewhere to start frommm_FX wrote:Just to clarify this - external audio appears in place of any *white noise* source. I bet its Windows 7 - wont run standalone either. Happens in both 32 and 64 bit. Works in my XP setup though. Tried the usual admin/UAC fixes, no go.mm_FX wrote:Can you give a few more details please?xybre wrote: On the other hand, now that its installed, SynthSquad causes my DAW to stop responding, and it just sits there. The effect is immediate, CPU maxes out, and sticks there until the host is killed.

No problems with Windows 7 32-bit and Ableton Live 8.0.8 here. I am using the full version of Synth Squad, not the demo. Is it a problem with the 64-bit version maybe ?xybre wrote:mm_FX wrote:Can you give a few more details please?

I had a similar issue on windows XP 32 bit in Ableton Suite 8 (i think i had 8.0.4 at the time), I was experimenting with bidule (which was in a different directory from my other vsts) so I had swapped Abletons custom vst directory to where bidule was. When I tried switching it back, Ableton would hang during loading (when it scans the vsts), while before it had all loaded totally fine - I didnt change anything except the custom vst dir, and then change it back. Anyway, I removed ALL my vsts from my custom directory and added them back one at a time to try and find the culprit, but it started working fine when I did thatxybre wrote:mm_FX wrote:Can you give a few more details please?

So I dont know what the real problem or real fix was, but removing the vsts, then going through and adding them one at a time got Ableton loading ok again for me. Might be worth a shot
BTW, it would hang for me when loading one of the DCAM synths (and only after changing the custom vst dir, then changing it back, initially it loaded no problem), though I dont remember the exact one, so it may, or may not, be related. I attributed it to some kind of dependancy in Ableton/DCAM that broke when I changed the custom directory and then tried to change it back...for whatever reason it worked again when I added the synths one at a time back into the custom vst directory and loaded Ableton in between each addition... anyway hope it helps you get things loading, it was a while ago, and hasnt happened since, so I dont have any more details - sorry its probably not much help for FX guys

Every single other VST works just fine between XPx32 and 7x64. This is the first problem I've encountered.Ingonator wrote:No problems with Windows 7 32-bit and Ableton Live 8.0.8 here. I am using the full version of Synth Squad, not the demo. Is it a problem with the 64-bit version maybe ?
The custom VST directory contains only the DCAM synths. And XT has the exact same behavior when loading the synths.ampman117 wrote:I had a similar issue on windows XP 32 bit in Ableton Suite 8
