Hey guys, i have just heard deadmau5 recently and he is now my favorite producer. Might not be the sort of music you are into but i really love this sort of stuff. Anyway, i am trying to make my first Electro House song and have got all the effects and settings for the bassline done. The thing i need help with is the melody.

In my opinion, the whole song sounds like crap atm, i wont be offended if you feel the same. Im here for some honest feedback guys. And i need tips on how i can make it better, if you have any.

Cheers.

For a 14 year old kid you are going OK. I have had a listen only to the stuff on your myspace. The link here on KVR doesn't work. It says you have to be logged in...... to what.
Love music, cars, friends, people, games and talking pretty much!
I think you left out girls from the above quote. If you're going the full rock star trip get used to it.

Remix on sexy bitch is cool. Get yourself out there as a DJ as well.

Good Luck with your journey.

What do you classify as being essentials. What kind of gear are you incorporating into say your live rig for DJ. I think DJ is the way to go as you can do a set of other peoples music and include the genre you like to keep the crowd pumping. This is a good way of getting yourself heard better than doing it from the bedroom and maybe even building that following on MySpace.

Umm well i am looking at going straight to some Technics SL-1200mk2's so i dont have to worry about upgrading. Im not sure about mixers but i want one that i wont have to upgrade for a while. Serato Scratch Live so i dont need vinyls. Headphone. Speakers and some other stuff.

But anyways, did u check out the song in the link? I uploaded a newer edit of it, sounds a little smoother than the last one.

Cheers.

Yes I did have a listen again. You may need to adjust your individual levels.

They all sound the same to me and that's to my old ears . Tune is chugging along alright. What will make your track/s stand out in the future is to find an attractive female vocalist to give the tracks a whole new meaning and justice. Add some hot electro or trancey lyrics. Remember a track without vocals/ lyrics is only an instrumental.

Also being philosophical or even profound.

A recording is something that has happened.

A performance is something that is happening.

What do you mean by individual levels?

I am trying to find some vocals from a song atm but i dont know what to choose.

Your volume faders. Sounds like each one is maxing out. Drums loud, bass loud, keys loud. Try lowering them all and readjusting. What sound card are you using?

I think i get what your saying. I changed the volumes and stuff around so it should be alright now. But i made this random melody up on my guitar and put it in the some sort of sound and the song for that sounds a whole lot better!

Im just using the sound card in my laptop...nothing special atm.

you'll get better with age. Just keep up your interest/ passion for music and something good will come out of it.

I did have a listen to updated track and its coming along. If you feel disillusioned then work on something new. Stay inspired. Try and write a lyric or two.

Cheers

Yeh i keep reminding myself that i've only just started out compared to the pros who have been doing it for years and that lets me know good things are yet to come :D

Thanks for all your comments.

Cheers.
