Has anybody had any luck installing to another drive?

I followed the instructions in the manual for installing to an external and it installs fine.

However, my issue comes when I install the updates. The updates do not allow the option of choosing another drive...

I'm on OSX if that's relevant at all. Thanks in advance for any help.

^ I can't be of help, but I can tell you that when I updated the software/patches/soundsources on OSX 10.5.6, there was always the option to select the installation drive.

I play bass, guitar and keys, but I can NEVER get the sounds I'm hearing off my ol beatup 4-string. Jeez the chapman stick alone sounds gorgeous.

How to resist?

I could never get those sounds with high end basses Not completely true though as when I was slinging a modulus, it was pretty sick!

just checked again. You can change drives but you can't choose a specific folder in the updates like you can when you install from the discs, so still no luck.

Same here, shaunski. Just go ahead and click Install after you select the drive. The installer probably "knows" where to place its files based on the Steam Folder location.

The special articulations in the Soundsource Zoom page are fantastic! Eric Thanks! I can play now the Marcus Deep Dub® bass patch using the Pattitucci Funk® Release feel and that give a new caracter to the sound!, I like it that function very very much! Synth Bass Layers Demo: "Trilian Light Years"

In case anyone is interested, this is a demo I created using nothing but Spectrasonics Trilian. All sounds, effects, filters, etc. are from the instrument. I chose not to add any sounds from other sources for this demonstration, including drums or percussion. Perhaps I'll add more to this later...for now, I hope you like it. For more info on Trilian,

Please point us to some examples of what you are talking about, Eric. The music that most people are listening to, does not need detailed, dynamic round robin samples for bass. I have never, not once, listened to a song by one of the umpteen artists I like, which uses a synth bass, and thought that it would be better if the bass had round robin samples, or anything else that Trilian offers.

Well, there's your problem! </mythbusters> I agree this feels more and more like a troll, but even so, let's play along. Synth bass (as in bass that sounds like a synth, not bass that has resonating strings) is a completely different beast than an electric or acoustic bass. It's actually a little confusing that the word "bass" covers these both (or three?) completely different worlds. And besides... actually, now that I think of it, this _must_ be a troll... I feel like an idiot. Let's stop here.

If anything, this thread has gotten me more interested in T than I was.

You know, it's not reinventing the wheel people, it just being inventive I made some observations which could have been taking the wrong way but especially after hearing some of the examples in songs, I'm breath-taken.

You know what, I was a pretty damn good bass player a decade ago when I was serious (I probable play once a month now ). I consider myself an expert with bass tones (at least on their own) and this is a groundbreaking product. I have no idea if my (and yes it's quite decent) computer can keep up with it, but the sounds are awesome.

I mean come on, faulting the product because you don't think detail is important? Because you don't feel round-robin is important? PLEASE! You've got to kidding Are you kidding? please tell me you are kidding....

Defenitely not - but still, the question remains whether Trilian is up to that task, without much editing.

Apart from that, by now I've watched all the videos and for the first time in a while I feel some software GAS coming up. Would like to know how the thing performs on a mere Macbook (2.4, 4GB, 500GB), though.

I'm going to make a correction here. First with a disclaimer: Your system may vary.

I just loaded up the largest Acoustic Bass (and largest patch in Trilian) on a year-old iMac with 2 Gigs of RAM along with a multi from Omnisphere. No trouble, and I'm not using "lite mode". Now granted, I'm not playing anything extremely complicated but that should at least provide you with a little more helpful info. My thoughts are that you would need to start bouncing tracks/printing them to audio at some point...sooner than later. It would be worth doing a little more experimenting. Personally I end up printing my VI's MIDI sequences to audio anyway just to keep things moving quickly. If you work like I do you should be totally fine with 2 GB, even with the largest patches.

Seems your computer is spec'ed higher, but I know the imacs have 7200 rpm drives and don't know what yours has. Other than the possible storage limitations, seems like you'll be fine

This is on a 2009 Mac Pro (2.26GHz CPUs) but it shouldn't be that different from a MacBook - I just haven't gotten around to installing Trillian on the laptop yet. Trillian on the main upright bass preset comes in at about 10% of one core, roughly the same as Kore with the upright bass from Essential Bass, perhaps 1% higher on CPU. That's with streaming switched on and the samples on an internal SATA drive - those figures might look a bit different with an external USB drive holding the samples.

The sample library weighs in at 36GB.
