Is Amplitube Metal good for anything besides Metal? Would you get Hendrix or Metal?

I know it's an odd question, I don't play metal or like metal, but I like a lot of deep/crunchy tone, especially when layering multiple guitar tracks. I'm really torn about which one to get. Love vintage stuff too... and already have AT2, Fender, and Ampeg.
Does anyone here own Amplitube Metal and not use it for thrash metal? Anyone own Hendrix and Metal and have a preference, or pros and cons of either?

That sounds promising... unfortunately makes it tougher for me to decide between the two. I'm going to have to pick the right time to download the 10 day demo and really explore them.

I almost wish I hadn't gotten AT2 as my third part of the groupbuy... But I'll just need to find a good weekend and do the demos.

Just use the demos and see what the range is. I like Metal a lot, but don't even know what thrash metal is. Louder? Faster? More blown speakers? Drug addled lyrics? Anyway, I like all the IK amp sims, each has a certain character, but the range from clean to max, and the variety of elements in between are worthy of a good test. I figured the Fender sim couldn't offer that much extra, but as it turns out, I like it the best of their four guitar setups.lagavulin16 wrote:I know it's an odd question, I don't play metal or like metal, but I like a lot of deep/crunchy tone, especially when layering multiple guitar tracks. I have JHE. It's going to depend on you but I'll ask these questions:
-what is your primary guitar?
-what is the closest style to "your" style?
-do you usually lean toward vintage stuff or chunky stuff?
-do you like to play chords and progressions more, or lead stuff?

for vintage lead stuff go for Hendrix
but for vintage progressions i'd say Rock Amp legends
for chunky chords it's all about NI guitar rig
but that also depends on your guitar
now
if you have humbuckers and want to play vintage chords
you have to get waves,
but that also depends on the tempo of the song
... etc ...

I cannot put into words how awesome JHE is for bass. Matched to my P/J bass I dont even consider another sim. For guitar sounds, I lean towards Amplitube fender most of the time, and I generally dont like the sound of any Marshall amp sim Ive heard(or real amp either...) I think that JHE is slightly too dark sounding most of the time, but it has its place...
