Since one year, i don't understand anything from the Abletons, and they seriously p_ss me off :?
They rose their upgrade price quite a lot (what ? nearly 50% of the full price for an upgrade ?), stopped the educational disocunt offers for upgrades, and with the many versions ("suite", "lite", "intro", "launchpad", etc), it gets a total mess to know how much you should pay / what you need, and mainly, why should i pay more to upgrade when i'm a old customer than if i was a newbie buying a cheap controller and getting LE for free + a nice upgrade price...

So many versions, so many steep upgrade prices... wtf ? a new, full host is cheaper than the upgrade with a 20% discount ???

Did Villalobos start posting in this thread with a number of sock puppets?

Is LE different to Lite then? I haven't kept up with all the different versions, and upgrade paths cos I bought Live6 when it was released, and have upgraded to each new version ever since (downloading Suite 8.09 as I write). I've never felt ripped off, or taken advantage of by the upgrade price either ... always seems like a good deal to me.

Lite is the freebie, and LE is a cut down version of the full app but with more capability than Lite.

Here's Live Intro v Live: http://www.ableton.com/pages/live_8/com ... live_intro

I can't find the comparison to Live lite anymore

An example would be
Lite = 2x VST instruments, 2x VST effects
Intro = 4x VST instruments, 4x VST effects
Full = unlimited VST instruments and effects

I can upgrade Live lite to Live full for 279 Eur, or buy Intro for 99 Eur, or keep Lite 8 for free

279 is out of my range and Intro is tempting but is not worth 99 Eur to get 2 extra VST slots, may as well use work arounds like chainer/eXT/FL as a VST in Live lite

How is 8 scenes in any way usefull.

I see no use in that at all.

Well, Intro, which is a full host, is 50€cheaper ( = a Reaper v3 licence) than the upgrade, and has more features than Live5.
Ok, i know Live5 is not the most up-to-date host in 2009, but still, when i check how much money i involved into buying Live5 and then upgrading, i do feel quite ripped off...
What bore me is that anyone can get a free Live Lite (just buy a 50$ controller or a cheap soundcard), and then you get more than the loyal customers... it seems quite strange to me :?:

Download with Free Download Manager.....

http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/

.... it downloads files 10 times faster and if it loses 1 connection, all the others keep running and it restarts the dropped one.

I wouldn't attempt a large download without it.

No it isn't, you can only put 4 3rd party FX in it and it only has 8 scenes and limited inputs and outputs. Live Lite is even more limited. They aren't full hosts, but a very slimmed down version of Live.

There is Live LE/Intro and Live Lite btw, two different things and you don't get LE/Intro free with any hardware.

Having paid full-retail for Live-4, then up'd to Live-5, then Live-6, then Live-7... I think I'm into "Live" for an easy grand+.

I use that work-around on a couple a machines with "Lite" (that came with cards), as well as in the full version, and I don't see anything in Live-8 that is worth another $200+ US upgrade from the full version of 7, which works just fine, and will also work with the APC40.

Seems to me, that the Novation Launchpad @ $200, is the hot-tip for entry into the LIVE arena.
