You sure do. This has a childlike quality, and uses the pauses to great effect. I like traffic lights. The calliope lead instrument choice and the portamento arpy noises are standouts. The vocal is superb - it gets inside your head. I seem to recall a song like this at primary school, (but that was 200 years ago). "I bet I can't stop singing this song..." This is best played with Windows Media Player on full rotation. Pass the gin. This now features as a ringtone on several of my friends' mobile phones.


Psy-T : Shut Up

I love Eric Idle. The Bonbept is Blever. And the pulsy synthy noises are really well conceived. Shows as 3:01 in my player, which is a clever way to upset everyone. Flamenco for foreigners? Indeed. It's so greasy here isn't it? 11/10.

Zombiequeen : Zombieqween

I love the the chipmunk voices. Andrew Gold probably borrowed your idea when he voiced Alvin the Chipmunk. And wrote "Lonely Boy". There's two good reasons not to like Alvin. The lead break a fourth out of key is wonderful. The percussion is completely fit for mother-yuppers. Complete bull-yup.

VoidoidSurrealist : Your Death Is In My Hands

Lots of hazardous chemical industrial noises in this one. Yes it makes me sick, and yes I feel it too. The sonata form has many fine proponents, but this has nothing to do with your song. There were a couple of mistakes in the sitar part, but otherwise, you have a future at Guantanemo. The choc ice break during the interval melted time into form.

I liked the beat to this one, and the "chord memory" synth rhythm, complete with ring modulation and sync-y goodness, was brilliant. The bloodbath solo was too little too late. The vocals here could express a little more angst. This actually grows on me, but this was the intention - get me hooked, then squeeze my brains out. Clever.

Thank you Laura. I think this would have been better as a 2 minute song - that would have brought the solo in earlier (and finished earlier). I think also that I am,unfortunately, too old to angst - now, where's my cocoa and slippers?

Favorite classic musical places could be (for me):
Industrial, bad peepsy electronica, metal

I don't know there's a lot of music against my taste which doesn't piss me off at all, techno, classic rock, some sorts of metal or dance they are boring and uninteresting, but won't irritate me - so it might be a long shot.

I don't see anything about it in the submission rules.

It's pretty rare for contest submissions to have swearing, probably (I would speculate) because even contestants inclined to it are reluctant to take the chance of offending voters who may be sensitive to rough language. The only discussion on the topic that I can recall was when me109 mentioned his preference for cleaner language to Max when one of Max's entries had some cursing.

I did in fact dredge this up from half remembered childhood songs. I also considered adding a 2 bar silence at the end so that it would loop perfectly but considered that too cruel
