Hi all,

I just released my Signature Soundset for Pro-53. I know this VA is retired recently but i really felt like giving it a little bit of me into its retirement.

What we have is 64 presets with many presets you would'nt dream of coming from this oldie.

Here is a 8 min. MP3 demo:

This MP3 demo use no external FX, what you hear is what you get.

and its yours for 5,- Euro :)

Have fun

Why did they give Pro-53 up - I expected Pro-54
Probably left now to GMedia to do an emulation..........
BTW the presets on the MP3 are really really good 8)

It was old code. Pro-43 would've needed a complete rewrite of the code, and NI couldn't afford it, I guess.

Yeah - I've read this is the case
In fact, as NI have abandoned B4 II, they no longer want to make vintage emulations. As I recall, Pro-53, FM7 and B4 were part of the 'Vintage Series' of NI instruments. This has been dropped, probably because NI want to be a forward looking-into-the-future company. Besides GMedia and Arturia are doing all the vintage stuff now. This, IMHO, would explain the FM8 interface looking nothing like the DX7 (FM7!)

...indeed - these sounds are probably the most beautiful I have ever heard in a Pro-53 soundbank (and I have all of them - that's why I'm so pissed that it is discontinued). My only hope is that NI would include the Pro-53 in Massive - adding the filter (which is also already available in Reaktor and in Kontakt) as well as some additional modulation options and you're there. If this would have an import option for Pro-53 patches then I would be in heaven! Please do write NI with this suggestion and let's hope for the best. Just because the Pro-53 hasn't sold well in the recent years it doesn't mean that it hasn't a large user-base who is really sorry about the discontinuation...

Michael,
Nicely done, as I would have expected from having your Zebra sets.
I always learn a great deal from reverse engineering your patches
about how to extend the capabilities of the synths and bring out
their hidden qualities.
Cheers,
Scott

Very good set! And very affordable, too. Actually I didn't know that the Pro-53 could sound that good! Good luck with the set!

I am very happy with the soundset.
Thank you Michael!!!! :-)

I am also unhappy that NI does not support the Pro 53 anymore.
For my ears it sounds better and has the better presets as
the Arturia Prophet has.
Unfortunately it is not possible for me to emulate the Pro53 with Massive.
I think the sound of Massive is too different.
I hope that NI will one day make a Pro54 too. Please!!!!

By the way: Does anybody know a "classic synthsound bank" for Massive?

...I can understand that NI has made this decision, but I don't understand why NI has let it happen that things went this way (mildly spoken). Creating patches with the VA oscillators and the 4lp or the acid filter has led to similar results with Massive. However, Massive can't imitate the poly-mod section of the Pro-53 (yet - oh well... ) - i.e. using an oscillator for PWM or the frequency of another oscillator. I think it would be a real benefit incorporating these features into Massive (and it shouldn't be too hard to do that!). I have written about that here:

Good to hear you guys like the sounds :) Just remember retired and discontinued dosent mean the Pro-53 is dead and gone forever, just means we the (lucky) ones should not discard it wihtout giving it a good thought. I have not tried it with Windows 7 though but its so basic that i doubt there will be any problems running it as a vsti for several years.

that sounds difficult??? :?

That was one of the nicest sounding demos I have heard, it from 70's to modern music. If I ever get this synth, this soundset would make a great addition, good luck with you soundset.
