Hey, what about Waves GTR3! No love? :?

It's pretty good actually (from what I remember) and I've seen it as low as $135 for the software-only version. Great price for Waves!

After you get use to any amp in any form it's easy to interpret "sounds different" as "sounds better". While with one trick ponies (like many amps) it's often more obvious when it sounds bad with sims you're far more likely to stumble on things you like. The palette gets over saturated with all the choices of tones and set ups so that after you find such a tone you work backwards and find tones no different than the sim you're use to but somehow they sound better. Call it Hink's Razor if you will, but the grass will always be greener on the other side of the fence :shrug:is "razor" the right term, I dunno but it sounded cool
I like what I use. Today I'm deliriously happy with the sounds I get. I couldn't be more pleased today with what I made.

Go Figure.

but that's not what I said, it has nothin to do with happy. I very happy with what I have and what I can do too, but what I'm describing is basic ear fatigue. I think you missed my post by quite a bit

What if you want the amp sim for the most ear fatigue?

Just boost a lot around 5Khz and bypass the cab model on a Guitar Rig 3 Marshall emulation. You should get PLENTY of ear fatigue there ;) :phones:

why would one want ear fatigue? Besides that I don't think ear fatigue has a measure and I think most everything audible can create ear fatigue. If you want the most though the formula is quite obvious, but then maybe I'm atypical as well. Sometimes the palette needs cleansing for me and it's obvious that things are amiss because I get angry and fidgety trying to get a good tone. Every tweak sounds better for a minute or two then I'm frustrated, I realize that my gear hasn't changed so the problem must be me. Once I know that I do what it takes to solve it...

Which is what? Stop playing for a while?

I get your point but it's also irrelevant to the OP's question in the sense that this issue affects everything in life. The more you hear/see/do something, the more fatiguing and uninspiring it gets. That shouldn't prevent someone from seeking out the "best" of whatever they want (best from their perspective, that is). It will get old after a while, but before that happens, the higher the initial quality of something, the better the results one is likely to achieve before they need a break from it.

sometimes, taking breaks from playing have often been growth periods for me and I believe know when to take breaks is a key component of being an artist. YMMV

did I say he shouldn't get what sounds best, because I'm pretty sure I didn't say that. I'm sorry you have such a hard time with my post, but I can't imagine what gives you license to play thread police and decide what is appropriate and what isn't. I think it's a fair peice of advice, if you don't oh well...maybe you stop trying to read between the lines

Yeah Hink, I don't get your logic. I tried them all and I'm really happy with my choices.

it's not about happy, I find it hard to believe that none of you get ear fatigue or understand it's not about happy. It's no different a concept than the honeymoon phase of a new piece of gear, or a demo that sounds great at first, or a brief in store demo of an amp but once you get it something is not the same. You guys don't get that?..now I'm not sure if I'm blessed or jealous

I decided, I'm blessed, sitting hear remembering the day when my plexi just started sounding old and it seemed I had gone as far as I could with that amp I traded it for boogie. I fell in love with the boogie but felt loss over the plexi. Jump ahead 15-25 years, my sansamp starting to sound old, it just seemed I couldn't get what I wanted out of it so I bought a POD 2.0 (but I didn't have to sell the sansamp like I did the plexi). The POD 2.0 led to my xt live. Meanwhile during that time my options opened up going from a usb card to the firestudio, then I could record many inputs including a great re-amp signal. That started me through the usual freebies, demos etc and then to GR4 and soon vandal. But still inline and used all the time coming out of the "B" side of my aby box is my trusty ol' sansamp sounding as good to me as ever. It's about perspective (and getting a fresh one) and perception and if I'm the only one the gets to enjoy this so be it. I hope you guys did not take what I said to be negative, it's a personal observation.

Yeah but it's not a bad perspective.

Without the pod (then countless changes since) I'd never have been able to get all my "guitar hero" on and so. I'd have allot more money, but I'd be poorer in some senses.

Now, onto the the best modeling amp sim :hihi:........

If I could only have one it would be between ATfender and Guitarrig4. I'd probably go with ATfender because for chords, it is supreme. Now if I just want to get my "jam" on, it's all about GR4. Not that I can't do either with the other, just saying.
