A little history ...
Around a year ago, I released a morphing synth by the name of Paddy Morphy, which although well recieved, brought fair comments about being limited as, although it morphed settings, it only mixed the wave forms rather than 'morph' them.

I then experimented for some time with methods of continuously shaping/morphing/warping/changing waveforms which resulted in the release of Flexiwave, Flexiwave2 and Flex-N-Stein. Again these were well recieved, and I was well pleased with the feedback, comments, discussion help, info, ideas and encouragement from KVR members.

So much so that I promised to combine the best features of the above named synths into one package. (... and then I got involved with those bloody One Synth Challenge capers!! :hihi: )

Well, it's taken a while, and a lot of revision, but it's done, it's free, and it's gonna be the featured synth for the Xmas One-Synth-challenge!

Introducing Flex-N-Stein 4 ( dont ask about FNS2 or 3!! ) ... A flexible wave shaping morphing synth! :-o

Wanna see it?? .... OK! .... I've taken the trouble to create a 4 page user guide ( with pictures! ) which you can see/read/download via these links ( each link corresponds to a page )

http://www.4shared.com/file/145777515/4 ... de_p1.html
http://www.4shared.com/file/145777715/4 ... de_p2.html

http://www.4shared.com/file/145778113/f ... de_p4.html

Wanna try it?? ... OK, click on the 4shared link below in my sig, go to the 'Vst Synths' folder, and download the 'Flex-N-Stein 4' zip file. ( the user guide is included along with the synth. ) .... or, 'cos I'm such a good egg, here's a direct link.

Wanna hear it?? ... OK, then go download it and make some fkn serious noise with it!! :hihi:

Thanks to Mouxbar and mrblitz000 for testing and feedback ... and apologies for neglecting to give you a mention in the credits at the bottom of p.4 ... sorry guys, but big thanks! :)

... enjoy!

I didn't entirely understand it, but did manage to - fairly easily - get some really satisfactory tones (among other things, a 'moving bassline') out of the thing. The manual certainly helps with the understanding bit.

An artist could actually do a great deal of working employing just your VSTIs, and a sample library (for QwertySam).

Keep up the good work!

Cheers for the kind words mrblitz000 ... :) ... glad you enjoy my creations.

I've decided to relent in advance of all those demands for an mp3 demo .. :hihi:

Here's a little throw together of some sounds over a simple drumbeat... ( yeah, I like the sequencer bit the best! :) )

a decent GUI would do these plugs justice:)

F**k off with yer decent guis :hihi: :hihi:

ooops wrong thread

Post

Nice, but I'd like a decent GUI and V 4.0. And tea, with cookies.
You can't always get what you waaaant...

:-o MARS ATTACKS! :-o :hihi:

Could you code a numeric value indicator on the big A-B knob?
Pretty powerful stuff for my limited memory! Should be a great
synth for a challenge. Do you have a Nocturn and Automap?
Thanks for getting the D/L link out front!

So I settled on patch 18, and came up with a fun crunchy gated
sound with a whistly portamento sine chasing it, great fun, the
real sound designers should go hog wild in the challenge!
:)

Cheers glockraw ... I never considered doing any sort of visual scale for the manual knob, I suppose because it is intended as a fluid shifter between the fixed settings of row 'A' and row 'B' .... Like if you wish to automate more than one parameter in sync with others, you set up a sound on the 'A' row with
manual at 'A' and then set up another sound with 'B', then to shift between the two sounds, you only have to automate one control ( manual ) ...

However, if it is desirable to keep a note of the position of that control, then I suppose it would be no problem to set a series of markers around its circumference ... so if thats what you want, then consider your suggestion noted :) ... meanwhile, you could consider placing tiny pieces of blu tack on your computer monitor :hihi:

As for the GUI, I like the GUI! :hihi: ... I've said enough in various threads about how I place the importance of appearance of synths.
If I had some commercial interest, I would think differently, but for now, the impetus for me to make Vsts is for my own entertainment, education, and musical ventures/experiments.
As I've said before, as I have continued to create stuff, a certain theme/style is emerging which is becoming a bit like my unique signature .. so I have decided to embrace that direction rather than regurgitate black, silver, wood, metal, vintage etc.

Now, that doesn't mean your stuck with it ... :) .. I'm not precious about my circuitry, project files etc, so if anyone wants to reskin it, or any other of my creations, I would have no problem sharing all/any of the project files you require to give it a makeover .... :)

Tea and cookies?? ... no problem ... just gimme a shout if you're ever in Aberdeen and I'll sort you out :hihi:

Here's another demo mp3 ... this one demonstrates FNS4's capacity for percussive sounds.

Can I assume no-one is having any problems with this synth? It would be good to hear about any difficulties before we use it in the next One-Synth-Challenge .... while I have time to sort out any probs which might exist. :)

Post

OK guys, a tiny little update. The manual morph control should work with the mod wheel ( if it didn't before ), and I've added a scale of 1-100 on the manual and LFO controls. here's a direct link to the updated FNS4.01

http://www.4shared.com/file/148988298/7 ... n_401.html

It also has a slightly different 4 digit ID, so there should be no probs adding the new version to any project already using the previous one.

Post

Unfortunately, I haven't had any time to play with it except for the first 15 minutes when I downloaded it, but in those minutes I already came up with the main structure of a track, lots of inspiration in a peculiar and friendly synth! :-o Thanks!!

Post

Cheers Mac, 'peculiar and friendly' I like :)

Post

Ill, try the new version.
I already finished my OSC11 track with the old one.
This synth really required reading the manual before understanding how it worked.
