Really? Several years behind to that?

If somebody doesn't like Reapers default look it can be changed without much effort by downloading one of the many alternative skins. They can be found here:

A few ones:

It's always interesting to me that people don't seem to understand what UI means. Yes, the UI of Reaper is a mess an no, you can't change the important parts. There's really very little to do to alleviate the problem, changing the skin doesn't help.

Post

I find Reaper's UI very good. I guess it's a highly subjective matter. Thus, it's not a valid fact because not everyone can agree on it.

Post

facts can still be facts without everyone agreeing on them. This isn't a comment on Reaper specifically, and perhaps OT to the subject matter in hand, but still worth bearing in mind :)

You may want to remove that link from your post
There are some rules at that site that ask you not to link to it

Oops! Sorry about that, it is fixed now! ;)

FWIW updates are a LOT less frequent then before, more like once a month, and include a few pretty big features (for some people anyways, no new features I really use since like version 1)

With the new menu customization, one COULD make a "total conversion" type of mod, to match it much closer to other DAWs, with menus, key commands, etc... matching as closely as possible. I think they could be pretty useful for newcomers from these other DAWs, especially if the configs were included with the main REAPER download. I know there are themes that kinda look like the other DAWs, but they could be allot better (I think most themes suck, including the White Tie and LEDFUCKFEST ones)

Hmmmm....I guess you don't visit the REAPER forums too often for updates then.
There have been (15) updates just since last May (when V3.0 was officially released). ;) Updates are still a LOT more frequent than once a month. Depending on what is being fixed/changed/added updates have even happened on back to back to back consecutive days. Maybe not as frequent as in years past but still a lot more than only once a month (well okay, September was an anomaly and had only one update, so I'll give you that). But, that Justin dude is no coding slacker! :D

Those that can, do. Those that can't, argue about it on k-v-r

If Reaper would add groove quantize I would take another serious look at it.

Yeah, you're right, not once a month, but for major updates that's been the case - which is why I said "like once a month".

But in any case, it wasn't at all a complaint. Since Schwa came on board I noticed they restructured some of the innards, and the updates have been pretty solid bug-wise. I'd rather that then the day-to-day updates to scramble to fix bugs and other anomalies. Plus, it was getting tiresome checking every day to see if they added/fixed something, now I check every few weeks.

PS. I like ProTools too. If reaper updated their awkward/non-existent fader/meter labels it would be pretty close. I'm also a sucker for knobs, I especially hate the tiny pan "fader" in reaper.
