Since we don't sell the product direct to end users like a lot of other developers do, you should ask your dealer about that.kevvvvv wrote:I'm looking forward to buying Trillian for Xmas.
Is there a discount for Stylus & Omnisphere owners?
Spectrasonics Trilian...(Omnisphere v.1.1 now out with native x64 support!)

Monsieur Eric - I don't doubt you. As always - I look forward hearing your creations and I'm sure they will be up to the high standard I would expect from you guys. But by curiosity - how come both the new synth patches and the old synth Trilogy patches didn't make it into the initial release? Correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't Omnisphere initally ship without the original Atmosphere sounds as well?spectrum wrote:I think you'll also find much less need for the original Trilogy patches when you hear the new Trilian ones this week...they are coming out great!

I'm sure they added the Atmosphere stuff on the first or second update of Omnisphere, not with the initial release.

I got my Omnisphere upgrade through your tech shop, likewise with New Orleans Strut.

Well....if you ever wondered how we can make such insane products, it's because it's a pretty insane process that we go through to create them!
So here's a couple of reasons why this happens sometimes with products that have a fixed release deadline that's publically announced (like Omnisphere and Trilian):
• In the library, the Soundsources are the first priority. They take by far the most work and tremendous attention to detail. These are also very difficult to change and update, since they are so big and downloading 34 gigs for frequent updates is not feasible. So it's essential to get them right and we have to take an almost "NASA-like" approach to avoiding errors when we release an instrument with hundreds of thousands of individual samples like this.
In contrast, Patches can be created, modified and downloaded easier, so we can put them on the site for download if it's absolutely necessary. (and in this case it most definitely was)
• It's also much more difficult and time consuming to recreate older patches from another instrument than to create brand new patches from scratch....so it takes quite a bit longer and is difficult to estimate accurately how long these things will take.
Of course, our focus is on all the brand new sounds...so the sampling of the new electrics, acoustics and all the new synths was the top priority.
• We've also made the process of creating a patch more and more involved. It used to be that you just created a sound and named it, like how other synths work....but now we have to also create the notes, the tags, categories, weblinks, images and a custom control page interface for EACH patch!
So the sound-making part is now probably the easiest part.
It's worth all the extra effort though, because the custom controls page changes the whole experience of using that sound for the end-user.....it's way more fun and creative!
Anyway...there's a lot more reasons (enough that would fill a book), but that's a couple of the reasons.
Cheers,
spectrum

It's always been that way - for 15 years.woodster wrote:When did this change ?spectrum wrote:Since we don't sell the product direct to end users like a lot of other developers do, you should ask your dealer about that.kevvvvv wrote:I'm looking forward to buying Trillian for Xmas.

We only handle upgrades direct with end users, but not sales of new units. All new units are sold through our authorized dealers and distributors.I got my Omnisphere upgrade through your tech shop, likewise with New Orleans Strut.
New Orleans Strut was a special charity project we did through the website:
http://www.spectrasonics.net/neworleans/
Since 100% of the proceeds of that project go to the charity, it was best to do that directly.

Ah yes of course, I didn't notice the original upgrade question was from a person who didn't already have Trilogy.
Trilian looks very nice, I'll should really take a look at it.

When I did an interview with Magnus Lidström (of Microtonic fame) a long time ago - he said that the last 10 percent of any project is by far the most demanding. Thanks for the explanation, Eric.spectrum wrote: So the sound-making part is now probably the easiest part.![]()

Not much is said about this but it must be an almost nonsensical undertaking. But it really adds something to the presentation with an image.spectrum wrote:

I saw the patch saving process in one of the videos and thought it was way more detailed than other plugs but incredibly also far easier. You can really be far more descriptive with a patch and of course taking the time to add tags which loooks so easy to do (even multiple tags for the same patch IIRC) is just a few clicks. Finding that Rhodes pad layered with a >insert you choice of sound here< amongst hundreds or thousands of others then becomes easy to do from the sound browser.
Far easier to navigate than any plug I have used before...and that is my opinion just from seeing the videos.
That kind of attention to detail really encourages a user to save their own presets and experiment. Right down my street.

Well, to miss those I'll have to get past the 34gb install, checking out a few basics, and starting in on the manual!!!!!ozmoz2008 wrote:I can feel the adrenaline rush! Omnisphere 1.0 was released only one year ago and it came with 800 patches.
Since then, we have added another 3200 patches for FREE. There are now over 4000 high quality patches.
Please point me to all the other companies that have done this for free in the first year of their instrument's release.
Tomorrow we release Omnisphere version 1.1, with 64-bit native support on Windows, and the support for Omnisphere library expansion via full integration with Trilian's library (hundreds of new Soundsources and Patches that can be used in Omnisphere), support for Round Robin, Legato mode, multichannel soundsources and lots of new Memory Management features, Lite Version support for faster loading and previewing, etc.
Once again....for FREE.
So there's no need at all for the negativity....geez.![]()
All our instruments will be growing in many ways for many years and our updates are extremely generous by any standards.
THANKS ERIC !! AND ALL THE SPECTRASONICS TEAM,
VERY COOL UPDATE !!!
