What I care about is a song contest that doesn't take into consideration popular song structure or duration.

3 minutes is plenty to write a song with. I could find a bunch of 'commercial' pop songs under 3 minutes.

Maybe if you go back to the 50s and 60s. Only 2% of popular music these days is less than 3:00. Over a seven year span (81'-87' 700 songs) only 14 of the top 100 songs run less than 3:00.

You mean like the ones that try to convince everyone else that pop songs have to have a certain duration because they found a period of time in the 80s when most pop songs were the length of a piece of music they produced?

At least I read the rules about length of submission before I submitted anything for the competition. Would feel a bit of a dummy if I didn't and got my entry disqualified.

Why not actually allow a proper amount of time to create a proper song? I know it's scary. Face your fears.

Is the larger percentage of the KVR collective unable to actually write a proper songs? Based on the amount of people that don't care if there is time to do a proper song. I have my suspicions.

I'm still way ahead in the using my brain to develop a reasonable thought department.
