Nah. I don't think you're a troll. But I do think you like to argue and when you and "Agreed" get into it the posts get pretty looooong, no? Anyway, I'm good with you being whoever you want to be. :)

That's pathetic, one thread in the past and you blast in here to dig it up? See yuh

What's with the hypersensitivity dude? Really?! I'm just razin' ya :P Take it in stride man, it's all good...really :)

I agree, Hink is acting visibly defensive in this thread (and in his sig line).

fwiw, I still stand by what I said first in this thread...in fact in between things I've been giving it a lot of thought because I really thought it was typical. So A.M. Gold because you asked the question what do I do when my tone gets stale (yes I changed it to stale because hopefully it will be clearer), that can be answered with one word...."grow"

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Waves GTR3 :? It's pretty good, right? I don't own it but I remember it sounding really good

is there an echo in here? :hihi: I've never tried GTR3 myself but I think I have heard more good things than bad. If they offer a deal I would get it, that's hot I got to GR4. Don't they have the Paul Reed Smith interface?

How about the new (released as of today, no this isn't the LePou one)
TSE X30 - Engl E530 preamp sim (free)
http://www.theserinaexperiment.net/

Specifications:
- 4X (internal) oversampling. - 2 channels crunch/lead. - 4 band EQ/Tonestack.
- DSP/Programming by onQel :: GUI made by DaWolf
- Download TSE X30 v1.01
-Including "Standard" version + SSE2 version for newer cpu's

Use a cab sim after.

Great for metal, and along Nick Crow/LePou's line of quality. The programmer is also an electrical engineer and plans to release more plugins.

@GTR3

Oh man, you asked for it now bringing up waves again!

Anyways, I didn't think it sounded that good (tried it twice)

The reason I objected to the interjection you originally made is because I didn't get the impression the OP was "tired" of hearing the same amp model over and over. I read his statement as "I'm trying different amp models and I don't like the compressed quality they all seem to have, it doesn't sound like a real amp." I think you changed the subject when you came into the discussion. No big deal, but, if true, then it wasn't inaccurate or flaming on my part to say "you're changing the subject".

you got the impression?..you're assuming what he said (who has few posts and hasn't returned since) but you had the nerve to tell me I shouldn't post anyway?

You kids don't make me have to come in there!

Come on man! It's not worth getting all frustrated

hey hibidy, I didn't start this, and I'll be damned if anyone is going to tell me where and when to post...and to spite a few here who seem to want me to stop having an opinion and sharing it about guitars I'm still going to. I have nothing to apologize for in this thread.

now to try and get it back on topic, I STILL stand behind my words. I honestly think it's rather difficult to ask a bunch of guitarists what the best sim is and get a decent answer. The best answer is to try the demos, I would start with freebies so you can get a good idea of what you want and dont want. As I spoke of earlier there is always a honeymoon phase and often a let down after that phase. But that's okay because if you're at the stage of just starting out you're surely bound to outgrow things anyhow. But as I stated elsewhere it's not like back in the day, you're not stuck with one choice anymore, even if you move on you still have what you are temporarily leaving behind.

I have found from my observations that it's common for me to go in circles, one sim or amp gives me ideas I can try with others, so while it's going in circles it's ever expanding. The most important thing I'm trying to say is it's okay to always be pursuing more, the grass will always be greener as you grow and you don't know if your choice today will take you in the direction you want with upgrades. So I feel it's important to be flexible and OPEN to change, I also think it's good advice and on topic.

So if the op reads this, that's my advice...start with some freebies, try some demos, get an idea of what YOU want, not others. Keep in mind threads like these that always turn into popularity contests and are far from objective. :)

That's what made me think of it actually. Right now, it's $135 for the "software only" version (excludes PRS interface). If anyone is interested
