I am enjoying exploring Catanya, with some interesting results. Are there any plans in the next release to "fill in" the presets in some of the other categories. I click on some and there is "nothing" there, not sure why the category is present... waiting for me to fill it in?? or do you have plans?

Hi Paul,

yes, we know about these empty categories. we are still developing the software and after dealing with more important issues we will also try and fill in these presets. In fact we are planning to remake all the preset system because of the problem with Ableton Live 7. We are still not sure how it is going to look like, so if you have any other demands and ideas, share them with us . Enjoy.

Maybe kvrajim is refering to four or more notes chords. Catanya does a great work with three notes chords.

currently when you close the catanya window and then reopen catanya window it no longer shows the preset info. it would be nice to show whatever preset is loaded

Sure, the reason chord recognition is critical is, let's say I play the keys C, F, A(Which is in general the F chord). Catanya will play correctly if I have 3 different notes in a pattern. But, if I add another layer (say a bassline) with only 1 note, Catanya will play the C key (When the correct key is the F key) and it won't know that it's supposed to play the F key unless it has Chord Recognition. The C key will not be harmonically sound, while the F key is sound.

Chord recognition should actually be pretty easy develop, since it is just pattern recognition. There are many sites out there with all chords listed.

Let me know if you need further explanation. This is a critical feature for me. If Catanya doesn't have it, it isn't useful to me and that's unfortunate because Catanya has great concept so far.

** You can test the concept by doing this: hold down keys C, F, A on the right hand, and on the left, play the C then play the F, which one sounds right? **

Thanks for explanation. Well, principally Catanya is a tool which reads inputs in order from left to right. If you want to play c f a, it reads them like c f a. Its true it doesnt recognize chords, but that is the aim of Catanya not to limit the user by chords. I also understand what you mean. You want Catanya to be able to recognize F chord when you put c f a. But it reads it as c f a not like F chord. Im not sure if this is about to change, because then it would lock up other features for which Catanya is so special amongst arpeggiators.

you are able to save your actual preset through save/load .fxp plugin functions and reload it after startup. We are actaully working on the proposed option that Catanya keeps the last used preset. It should be ready in next release.
