You've actually made me want to go and demo it some more, which I will do. Curse you! ;)

How about Logic and/or Pro Tools - either of them for sale/made redundant by Record? :hihi:

Logic has been sold already. Pro Tools comes with the MBox so I'm keeping that one :D

Came as a bit of a surprise to me as well, but yes, very happy with it indeed.

I think the audio comping is super cool in that you can drag anything into the alternate takes - other audio files, rex files - and then swipe thru them and mash them up into a new cooler loop...

The Record Ready app is pretty cool in that you can take a lot of assets (particularly Apple Loops for me) and quickly tag them so that Record recognizes the tempo and then quality of the time stretching algo really shines - its way better than Abelton's or Logic's IMO.

So for instance I'm taking several apple loops (which I always thought sounded really lame on their own), tagging them with Record Ready, dragging them into a bunch of alternate takes and swiping up a new mashed up loop. Throw an interesting combinator on the insert and you've got some great sound design possibilities...

Amazing that people complain about the mixer. If you dont like it being seperate you can still do all your routing the old way. It's not forcing you to use the mixer. You still get multirack, a better sequencer, the master compressor (amazing) and all the other advantages Record gives you.
You can also have the mixer located in the top window all the time for quickly adjusting pan/volume, solo/mute and locating different parts. The flexibility is føkking brilliant!

Same here. It's a brilliant but pointless app for me at the moment. And the timestretching 'work around' is a joke considering the quality of the algorhythm the Props are using. You should be able to just grab the end of a loop & stretch it to fit like you can in other apps (I was doing this in Tracktion years ago). I'm holding out for Record 2.0 & campaignnig hard for 'MIDI-out for Record' on the Prop's forum;

I'm still continuing my MIDI-out for Record campaign over on the Propellerhead's 'feature suggestion' forum. It's currently had 280 responses, not all of them favourable I have to say, but it's been mostly positive with people adding their vote for this feature to be added. Any Reason/Record users that would love to see MIDI-out implimented? If you have not already then please add your support in the thread :)

I'd rather they implemented a Score Editor. Its a fundamental part of making music.

I don't think it is for most people who make music for a hobby - I would say based on conversations here that most people don't score their music or can even read a score.

I think that's more a nice to have for most people rather than fundamental.

Practically all the musicians I know/work with use notation in at least some form, whether full-on staff notation, a lead sheet, or just a chord chart. I think that the main exception is people doing electronica and dance music, which obviously does include quite a few KVR folk... but I don't think that's representative of musicians in general, or even those that Record is targetted towards.

My personal top choice would be for them to implement Rewire Host status for Record. At that point we could use a rewire enabled notation programme such as Sibelius or Notion, plus other music software like Bidule as a wrapper for VSTs, etc.

MIDI out is also right up at the top of the list of course.

I just noticed something fishy. I noticed an empty directory called "PACE Anti-Piracy" in my %userprofile%\AppData\Local directory (on Windows). I looked at the timestamp, and it was created within 2 minutes of my Propellerhead Record (CodeMeter) install.

Anyone else notice this? Maybe CodeMeter is related to PACE?

As I mentioned on page xxx of this thread, uninstalling Record officially involves removing a PACE directory. IIRC there was a denial that PACE is installed with Record but... it is. :?

Oh this will make people laugh... after being quite negative about Record since the beta testing time, I have finally given in and ordered it. Bottom line is I love Reason so much, and in the last few days I have been back using it a lot again. Cubase is superb as a main host DAW that acts as a control centre of the studio, but Reason is so inspiring to me, and Record is at least a natural decision as a Reason update, even if I simply use it in place of Reason. :hihi:

I also made the decision based on the fact that it is cheaper for me to buy Record PLUS the Garritan Personal Orchestra 4 than it would be to upgrade from Live 7 Suite (download) to Live 8 Suite (box)... EVEN during a time when Ableton are giving 20% off everything. And when I factor in the fact that most Ableton users I know are having huge problems since the release of 8... I'm not willing for now to give Ableton another penny. I'm through with their greed TBH.

Glad to hear it :D

For me having MIDI-out in Reason/Record would be the single most important addition that the Props could ever make. It would open up so much. Imagine Reason/Record as the control hub for your entire set-up? It would be awesome. Want an idea of how good Reason would be as a control source? Check out what Peff is doing using Reason as a CV source to control his analogue gear;
