Hi! Guys, please can anyone elaborate what is good with eXT and what is wrong?

I saw some bad vibe couple of months ago at this forum. Now i had some time and i installed demo. As far as i can see it is decent software but i did not dig deeply inside.

So can anyone elaborate/help. I would like to know your opinion. Only thing i can recall from my memory is that some version of eXT does not have multicore support and automatic PDC.

Also some resources/links would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, a quick peek about the forum will show there's no need for another post like this,

but i also often post before looking

multi core support is not in XT2 yet PDC is & always has been, but its not full pdc, so drumtracks, group buses & multiple master outs COULD be effected if PDC needing plugs are used on any of them,

Come on guys, don't overreact. Maybe the OP wants real info. For example, the links (setup by DarkStar over 2 years ago now) to download the latest version of XT2 or of the latest beta - lead to nowhere's land.

All I can say, kmonkey, is, that you get, by buying EXT2, EXT1 with it. So it's pretty much of a bargain. The rest is up to you. Test the demo, read around, and a lot of the "negativity" in this once great forum comes from frustrated users. We had energyXT 1.41, that was a dream come true for 3 types of musicians at least. Live musicians, those who mainly use the sequencer like in many other hosts, and those who loved the many creative things you could do with EXT1. Jorgen planned to built up on XT1.41, like all other developers - meaning he wanted to ADD to XT1.41. But that didn't happen, XT2 came out with more bugs any other host had ever seen, and were not fixed for months to come. That was waaay back, years ago. Old features, which many won't even need like midi-timestretching and other for me most valuable tools, were dropped. So this is the main reason people had a superb forum here and it turned out to be not so positive. It's not only the users who are responsible for this. But after telling you about the history - just download the demo, watch the new tutorials on the xt-website (covering basic stuff, but they are pretty good), and don't forget to download EnergyXT 1.41 too. Load it as standalone host, or load it into your host of choice as vst or vsti.
I collected stuff for free for EnergyXT 1, and like EXT1 still very much. If I would find EXT2,52 today, maybe I would see it rather positive - as I saw the lots of bugs as XT2 came out, I after 6-7 months just gave up. But that doesn't mean much for you

, and I can see thousands of musicians who can use XT at least as vst and vsti inside other hosts, which in fact many did from day one.

If you are serious and want to use it, it's best to ask questions like "can anyone please answer me if XT2,52 supports...." "how does this or that work" and so on. The moderators here are extremely friendly people

I asked simple things

I don't have problem on making my own mind either. I asked for quick pros and cons. I saw XT update in KVR news and decide to give it a go. You are either too retarded to see that i did not ask for help about making my decision or you are really just retarded (yes i am doubling "retarded" so you can read it...hopefully you will get it)

In case you didn't notice few things in your boring life - there are people which use forum to ask question. They don't have time to "hang" because they actually work on something. You are not forced to join these threads. For the same reason i can mark you as being troll(i am doing this right now...adding you to my ignore list) because you could check my profile and you could see that i don't have anything troll like in my long history here. But you haven't even bothered to read profile

Everyone other - Thanks for your kind help. I will check this software for sure. I like skinning options. Workflow seems kinda nice.

I would like to see full PDC, MIDI out in Drum editor and few other things.

I have to agree with kmonkey- Some people on this forum are bitter and twisted and have their head firmly inserted up their butt. That's why they cannot see why XT has moved on and they haven't.

No worries, such are forums it's hard to know where people are coming from sometimes. BTW, hope you realise I wrote those things in CAPITALS because that's how they actually appear at the top, not because I was shouting!

Sorry for using phrases like "pulling someone's leg", they don't translate well. Basically pulling someone's leg means that you are misleading them in a funny or mischievous/light-hearted way. Certainly not a bad thing!

the good :
- it starts in an eye blink, so it is pêrfect for testing new plugins if you' re a vst gearslut.
- it is easy and quick to make very simple sketches of songs or projects.
- it is more stable now than one year ago.

the bad :
- many things are quickly lacking or half-done (the automation, the drum sampler, the loack of support for side-chain able plugins, etc).
- all the Ext1.4 funkyness is gone (supa sampler/slicer, great arp, amazing GUIs thanks to the full skinning features, screenshots for your plugins, etc).

It is nice to keep it when you want to take a fresh new breath, taking a break from your daily DAW, and make fun, basic, simple stuff in 10 minutes or hang out with some VSTI for a while.
Don't expect to make anything with serious editing with it.

Things like :

- per track automation (when you want to make a fade out on a track, you have to ghost-copy the clips and make per-clip automation, it can require multiple unwished mouseclicks where other daws let you do that in less than a second)

- automation of parameters from the FX which are in the mixer : not possible.

- You have a drumtrack, but no ability to edit the tune, decay of the samples in the clips (like nearly everything in Ext2, everything seems to having stopped at half-way : you have pan and cutoff, but nothing else

)

- no elastic audio / warp markers

- no PDC

- no markers

- no per-clip FX

... so it is restricted to very basic stuff : no advanced audio processing, no advanced automation.

Unless you use your host like a multi-track recorded with no editing requirement, or if you make only 4 to the floor 4 measures patterns on a couple of tracks, it comes very quickly to some deep limitations.

It's seems to be aimed for quick & dirty, and it does it quite well, but you can't say taht you can make deep/advanced/serious things like you can with [Live/Cubase/Reaper/Samplitude/FL/Pro Tools... ] ( < just pick one up).
