Maybe I missed something, is Bazille a separate synth from ACE or is ACE what Bazille developed into? Will Bazille be a separate product your sell?

From my understanding, both Bazille and ACE are in some way components of Berlin Modular, which is the modular supersynth hopefully coming in 2010. As such, they are separate from eachother.

ACE is a synth on its own.sinelanguage wrote:Maybe I missed something, is Bazille a separate synth from ACE or is ACE what Bazille developed into? Will Bazille be a separate product your sell?
Bazille is going to be part of Berlin Modular, which is going to be the big sister of ACE. The upgrade from ACE to Berlin Modular will be the exact difference in price (in Euros, that is). Berlin Modular will need another 6-12 months to ripe.
ACE is
- almost strictly an analogue modeling synth
- an entry level drug to Berlin Modular
- the budget synth that people have asked me for for ages
Bazille is
- almost strictly a modular FM/PD synth (purely digital synthesis)
- not yet finished at all
Berlin Modular will consist of
- Bazille
- a bigger version of ACE (including ACE itself)
- a virtual analogue synth (/w Supersaw then)
- possibly some modular rompler
- possibly a step sequencer

Very interesting cheersUrs wrote:You can use LFO1 and LFO2 (or any of the filters) as sine oscillators. LFO2 also does triangle, square and sawtooth, plus some waveform called "Tap The Map". VCO1 can be integrated, meaning it does soemthing I call "peaking wave" in the sawtooth position and triangle in the square position.glasgene wrote:Urs looking at the oscillators I can see they go from saw to pulse then PW to alter the wave to a Square/Rect, can you select a sine or can you tweak the oscillator to soften/round the shape of the square?
It may seem simple at first, but you really have a vast amount of waveforms to choose from. LFO1 can be used as classical DX-like FM Carrier (Phase Modulation, also in Feedback wiring). PWM at audio rate also leads to nice crisp waveforms. But the funniest stuff really is the implementation of Soft/HardSync with Crossmodulation.
I want to have a go

Killer Urs!!!
The demos sounds really fat!
Will buy it instantly on the release day!

With possibility to route between any of these components, e.g., Bazille to ACE?Urs wrote:Berlin Modular will consist of

Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here.

That is quite possibly the nicest gui I've seen on a soft synth. Very nice to look at.

Here's some live tweaking of it, including filter envelopes, sync, crossmodulation

So, yeah, if you can cope to listen long enough, it also does dirty stuff

Thank you! Yep, it took a while, and I'm happy with it tooEchoes in the Attic wrote:That is quite possibly the nicest gui I've seen on a soft synth. Very nice to look at.

Wow, that really shows how nice the oscillators are.Urs wrote:Here's some live tweaking of it, including filter envelopes, sync, crossmodulation

Looking at the gui, just wondering:
Does the text below the mod target knobs reflect the default hard-wired mod source? For example "adsr2" below VCF1 gain. Is that the hard-wired modulator of the gain of VCF1?

Yes, exactly. Plugging a cable into such a spot interrupts the hard-wired connection.Echoes in the Attic wrote:Does the text below the mod target knobs reflect the default hard-wired mod source? For example "adsr2" below VCF1 gain. Is that the hard-wired modulator of the gain of VCF1?

Great tune Urs, and of course as with every product you code this will end up in my VST folder, but if you really want to sell it I think you'll need a video of you prodding the guts of old modular synths and lovingly sniffing the fumes of burning flux as you randomly solder something and test it on an old tube oscilloscope. Maybe you looking at the wood grain side of an old vintage analog under a microscope.Urs wrote:A fortnight before release, I sure cannot resist some lazy progressive noodle:
ACEthing
8 instances of ACE with some of my own patches, plus a drum sampler. No further processing, just a limiter on master.
For just some pure ACE: same tune, no drums

I agree. It's clean and super easy to "get" without having a manual pdf open. Great job.Urs wrote:Thank you! Yep, it took a while, and I'm happy with it tooEchoes in the Attic wrote:That is quite possibly the nicest gui I've seen on a soft synth. Very nice to look at.
