Well, this has turned into a ugly thread.
I'm sorry that things went south Karma hopefully it will work out due to this thread despite the comments be tossed around.
But since your not alone...
I hope nothing truely bad has happened the guy and its just one of those temperment ordeals. Although unless something bad has happened in the guys life which has made him unable to communicate with the people that he was working for and has taken money in advance from I hope he gets on the ball, if Scott fine then that's really crappy behavior.

Seriously, one of my biggest fears is something happening to me and not being able to contact people that are expecting something from me. I even asked a friend to come over at KvR and let you know that something happened to me in case something does.

its not my cup of tea, still i'd like to throw in my 2 cents...
i've huge admiration for all vst gui designers. compared to other business fields (marketing, web design, ..) u gotta deliver pro quality for amateur salaries. u gotta love what u do.
correct me if i am wrong but i cant imagine any1 can make a living with occasional vst gui designs. u can hardly make a living with entire vst plugins?
before bashing any1 for not behaving like a pro, it could be asked if she/he is payed like a pro? its not ok if somebody is less than helpful finishing a project. not answering during several weeks is rude. on the other hand, that supercore GUI looks more than 1/3 finished to me, so the designer harms himself too if he doesnt finish it..
if i were a gui designer i'd be happier the more educated designs appear. cause this should raise the overall quality standard, and a coder might think in future 'if i do the design myself, i am not taken serious'.

THe supercore is a concept he said.
Yesterday I said the first design in this thread is shit. I was drunk, but my opinion has not changed.
Now, it wasn't meant to upset, but here are the things to qualify my opinion:
1. there is no clear grid which is kept to. This can be ssen in many placws that things just aren't lining up properly
2. the spaces between text and elements is not consistent, sometimes it is just squashed in as an aftertought
3. the text (not the dynamic, but the rendered text) is not typographically correct; in fact most non-designers have never even heard of the fact that you can and mostly should change the letter spacing and undercut certain letters
4. readibility is very bad in some areas
5. The "fire and Ice" "logo/name" looks like someone said, ok, "if I don't use really extreme settings on this then people aren't gonna get it, so I'll put so much fire and ice into it that not even a blind pidgeon wouldn't miss it" AND I'll make sure all the letters are really close together so it's really hard to read
6. Colours; matter of taste- partly, but things should be used subtily, the background looks like someone in their first day of photoshop - again using all possible filters to the extrem; it looks like the background of a website from the late 90s
7. look bottom right at the name "Amtrine Audio" - not a logo as such, but just badly spaced, badly readable letters - and it seems to fit that in, everything on the right was moved up to make room; thus leaving the knobs at the bottom of the "LAYERS" area overcutting the edge - just a bit, not enough to say it is a design element
8. The block LFO and LAYERS are not lined up, just by looking it seems the LFO block is 2 pixels further to the right - this is also the case in other areas
9. The only element that looks professional IMO is the part in the middle at the top with the orange text on a black background
Anyway, just wanted to say why I said it's shit,
cheers
Richard

If it makes any difference, Scott said he was going to a wedding the last time we spoke. From the conversation, it did not sound like it was HIS wedding, otherwise I would be inclined to think he was on his honeymoon. However, a nearly four week (now) honeymoon is pretty long.

...even if it wasn't his own wedding it depends on next to which bridesmaid he has woken up the next day. maybe it was a mafia wedding and he is in deep trouble now...Karmacomposer wrote:If it makes any difference, Scott said he was going to a wedding the last time we spoke. I just wanted to show the other side of Limeflavour's Art for Wusikstation:

Now the skin above is the polar opposite of the Fire and Ice skin (pun intended) . The Blue on Black digits above are the perfect combination of readability and ease on the eyes. I can and have worked for hours on end with this skin and not suffered one bit of eye fatigue. I couldn't work with Fire and Ice for more than a minute or two and creating patches using it would be next to impossible for me anyway.
The blue skin above is not only pleasing to my eye but the subtle tweaks to the work flow and visibility make using Wuskstation much easier for me. I think Limeflavour has the talent to be a professional designer of some sort. He just gets the concept of design in my book.
LF's work with Reaper and several plugins as well is top notch professional so I'm a huge fan of Limeflavour's work just not the Fire and Ice skin. I put that at the feet of the developer who for some reason wants to sell a product whose gui is dysfunctional and downright painful to the eyes.

And to be honest Mike, Scott's mock up for Supercore is pretty rough on the eyes as well. Lots of Red is hard on the eyes and everything is too compacted. So hire Limeflavour. He's a better designer and he'll actually get the work done.

Scott is supposed to create TWO skins - one dark - the one above - and one light, so it IS easier on the eyes.Teksonik wrote:And to be honest Mike, Scott's mock up for Supercore is pretty rough on the eyes as well. I am not a fan of what I have seen here yet and have not checked out his or other skin designers work yet. I was massively impressed by Scott's realistic and transparent designs - which will be evident in SuperCore IF and when it is done (assuming it ever gets done).
I will give Scott a few more days and then I will make the decision to hire another skin designer so I can get this project finished and out to people.

Personally, I think your comments are rude and unwarranted. If this was a finished skin you was commenting on, I could prbably understand. I think you have tried too hard to justify your comments and should have left alone.bluelife wrote:Anyway, just wanted to say why I said it's shit
And to all the limeflavour bashers - get real; the man is a genius. Just look at the Wusikstation skin and how he dramatically improved Oatmeal.
