You're schizophrenic? :o
A long time friend of mine is now full-blown paranoid schizophrenic, and he doesn't seem to be getting adequate care. Everytime I see him he's talking about really far-fetched delusions, typical paranoid stuff about people constantly trying to comunicate with him via the TV, etc. I never know what to do with him. Apparently if there's no clear sign that he's a risk to himself or others he can't be sectioned, but I know that he's not taking his medication.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

i dont seem to be as fargone as your friend, but ive had a decent support network of friends, they remind me to take my meds and so on,and i do realise that my meds even tho i dont like them do seem to stop me cutting bits of flesh out of my arms,so i tend not to argue-its more that without the support id forget

all i can do is wish your friend luck, and be happy for him that you are his friend

one thing i have to tell you is i have treated some of my friends like shit when i have been bad,and its not that we mean it,so if he does turn on you remember its not his fault :(

A great loop. Makes me dreaming without having to sleep. :)

I go to sleep weeded alot but the dreams still sneak in there.I've had such a variety of truly bizarre dreams that are so impossible to decipher I don't even bother trying anymore.

Maybe the folks in this thread should make some somnambulist music together, pulling out some of our best pads and excursonary approaches to music. Making really slow, dreamy ambience would be a lot of fun.

I could host a project on Futurehaus.com where info about the project can live for all eternity. The first Futurehaus collaboration project went very well, with participants from three different countries making art together for the sake of art. I'll be posting that final track very soon. It's around 15 minutes long, but it's a bit active for sleep music, though it does have ambient aspects to it.

Hey, what a great thread! With music being so high tech its easy to become pe-occupied with the science of music rather than the emotion - to me music is all about communicating emotions and memories. Although Iv never heard a track of mine in a dream, I regularly have sureal dreams that leave me with feelings I have to express with music. This why I love to make all types of music. People often find it hard to except that one day I feel the need to make crazy banging techno, then make funky acid jazz the next, then do ambient... To many musicians become stuck in paticular genres, and its sad because they can never fully express themselves with their music (surely know one could feel like raving 24/7?!).

A few things:

1: Great thread

As are threads such as these.

My mum's a manic depressive and through time on visits when she was cliniced I have seen what it can do to a person...
I see it as a disease and can look beyond that to the person. Yeah, it has caused a fear inside me too, and sometimes (usually in naps) I get haunted by dreams where everything seems to go wrong.

Ehm back to the thread....

3. What a soft and enchanting piece of music Shane....

4. I am game! It is fascinating to work togetherm, and get to know one another better through music!

Cool. It seems that there are at least 4-5 of us in this thread who would enjoy collaborating. I'll start setting up a project page on Futurehaus for us. Until then, keep an eye on this thread for details. I suppose since I started the thread I'll take passive leadership of it all until we get started. It would be great to hear from you all concerning what kind of approach we want to take.

One method would be for each of us to write a slow, moderately short (3-10 minutes), dreamy piece in our own styles which we could then publish online as a sort of "midnight concert". Our only theme would be to create something that would be suitable to hear while drifting off to sleep. And simultaneously we could share some bits and pieces of music (such as loops) with each other so that each person could have some material to collaborate with - maybe just put them all in a pile online for us to pick and choose over. This approach would give us the best of both worlds: a private contribution and a communal one. I'm sure each of you have ideas, too, so please share them here in this thread so everyone can read them. There really is no limit as far as I'm concerned. I would even be willing to take some direction where one of you asks for something in a specific key so you could then provide melodic material, etc. It's all fun to me.

Well, I'm still working hard on the piece that started the thread. Here is my current progress. It needs an intro and certainly needs more work on the outro. But I'm very happy with the notes in the bridge, and that is usually the hardest part for me to write. I've been using absolute basic song structures in my last 3 pieces. Seems to be working for me even though they will probably remain instrumentals.

Peace to each of you. :)

i like the idea of it evolving as more people add to the group maybe
as you say while were creatin our piece were all gonna have bits that maybe sound good but we cant use ourselves,so yeah also a "pot" where we can pick n choose loops is a good idea too :D

as you say its all fun so maybe we just kick in and see what sticks 8)

K, I'll join in. Though ambient music isn't actually what I am doing usually, I'd generally like to take part in this collabo. For the sake of the arts. :D
