tried the pultec one against the T-racks version and it sounded quite different at the same settings.

Yup! Interesting indeed.
What ever!

This has been my experience as well, and I did a single-blind between real hardware and some of the better plugins over at GS, and the T-Racks 3 Deluxe Pultec and Fairchild both rated really high with regards to accuracy, or at least with regards to people being unable to reliably tell them apart.

Hm. That video is really interesting, there appears to be little difference between the UAD and Antress versions, but then that doesn't match my experience so well.

+1 for fatso

Antress, if see it, then:
Modern compressor has some weird behavior with phase or something else. After inserting, my mono kick gives slightly different volume for left and right channel. So kick just jumping between two channels(L and R). See volume meters and you will see.

Regarding my previous post: updated Reaper to 3.141 and it fixed the issue :)

Hmmm... looks like i have to get used to 30+ new plugins! :D

Thanks Antress, keep up the great work! :)

Thanx Antress....

the fairchild vid doesn't really utilize the uad plug, and maybe the same can be said for the antress one, so it's not really a good comparison test, imo.

the pultec one suffers from the same thing for the most part, until both boost and atten are used at the same time briefly, then i can tell a difference (slight even with youtube). it would have been a better test using it this way for the majority of time.

an improvement from the old ones but one of the issues with the plugs in the past have been the start up time and the cpu efficiency and not really the 'sound'. i haven't installed these yet as i've been busy but i'll check them out.

good work

cosmosis wrote:hmm, anybody using these in Reaper 3.14? I think a recent Reaper update must have broken something. The mk4 ones, the knobs won't respond, but they'll work if the GUI is dissabled. As for the old 3 series, dragging the mouse will move the whole GUI :o
No problems here with Reaper 3.141. Try clear cache and re-scan.

Good work Antress! I don't like the idea of freeware too much because it often leads to products not maintained any more but you seem to be an exception.

Is the spacer modeled after a certain hardware/software archetype or it is something you have come up with from scratch?

Thanks

Yeh, ModernSeventh is really good. I have a UAD card, but recently bought a laptop and needed the 1176 sound for some (many) projects.

I made a bunch of presets for the ModernSeventh that corresponded to the UAD card quite closely. So close in fact that in a mix I couldn't tell a difference. In fact even soloing the instrument it's really hard to distinguish a difference. The settings on the dials are a little different :-)

I've tried to do the same sort of thing with the LA-2A and the T-Racks Opto compressor, but it's not working out too well. The UAD LA-2A has something I can't quite replicate and the Tracks Opto compressor also has too many dials. So, now I will try the Antress LA-2A clone and see what's up!

Oh my! I was afraid after I posted someone would ask. Now please try to refrain from "your ears are full of wax", "you must be tone deaf" as I know this is true already. :)

These three are for Cubase and are from UAD's:
Greasy Snare
Fat Drums
Snare Crack

I should also mention that it's the 1176SE. I don't have the LN and I realize there's considerable debate about how they differ. I apologize for not having mentioned that in the previous post.

Comments or improvements are appreciated!!!
