Samplemoog - instruments not found

Hi

Just bought Samplemoog - installed on a PC running Vista, and using FL Studio 9. I'm unable to load any presets in Samplemoog - clicking on the instruments works - but clicking the presets just results in a down arrow. If I click on the "load combi" to the left I get the error messages "Part 1: instrument not found" "Part 2: instrument not found" "Part 3: instrument not found" and no sound.

The software is authorised, and I'm not having problems with any other VST's.

Any help would be gratefully received!

Make sure your samples location is correctly specified in the prefs menu. Go to "PREFS" which is one of the items listed in the upper righthand corner of the instrument and change it if it isn't.

Btw, if you didn't already know... the prefs menu is also where you can specify the desired output quality as well as how many outputs you would like to use. You can keep "Relist on Startup" in the off position (which will make your startup time a little quicker). When you change your samples location you don't need to change the "Relist" item. The initial relist upon changing locations should be automatic. When you change the location you will notice your computer will be 'busy' for a short period of time while it relists.

Should your samples location already be correct, then you can try forcing a relist. In that case, you can try putting "Relist on Startup" on. Restart the progam, then turn the Relist choice back off again. I'm only recommending this last bit in the event that your location WAS already correct.

I hope this helps you.

In "Pref" the files are in Program Files / IK Multimedia / SampleMoog, which must be correct as the instruments load. But none of the presets for Bass / Lead / Miscellaneous / Pad / Pluck load (clicking on them gives a down arrow). Trying to access the presets by the "Load Combi" gives the "instruments not found" error.

Sorry... I'm not an expert on this and I'm not a support guy. Maybe somebody else can chime in and help. But...

In the folder... do you see five types of files? Maybe something is missing?

I have .stip, .stw, .sti, .stv, .sth
Available on iTunes, Amazon, etc.

Thanks for your help Sequent. I didn't have all the files, you are right. I'm re-installing now and hopefully all will be well.

Checking back in here... surprised nobody else popped in to help. I'm sure there are plenty of Samplemoog and IK users around here.

I hope that's what the problem was. I hope the re-install does the trick. Keeping my fingers crossed!

There are definitely plenty of users of the powered-by-SampleTank line here and even a rep or two ;) - the information you've been given is good, but the best way to get support is to log on to your User Area on our site and submit a support request, FYI. i'm having this same issue, and i can't seem to resolve it. i selected what i think is the right file location, but i'm still getting no sounds or instruments.

can someone who has this program installed correctly verify the correct file path, and exactly what files should be in the destination folder?

This is my path for SampleMoog:

InstrumentPath=Q:\IK Multimedia\SampleMoog\

You could always (carefully) edit SampleMoogPref.txt in the installation folder
(C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\SampleMoog\Preferences here)

I bought and installed SampleMoog this week, and I had the same issue. First of all, if you get the download-only version direct from IK Multimedia, it's not at all clear that you have to download not only the app itself from the "Downloads" page, but also the sample library (in 5 separate pieces) from the "Sounds Download" page. I knew there was something amiss when I downloaded a 40-meg file for a program that was advertised as having a 4+ gigabyte library.

After finding and downloading the five pieces of the library, I ran their installers sequentially. Nonetheless, I had many sounds that wouldn't load, and combis that were missing voices. A check of my SampleMoog folder revealed that the library was only a little more than 3 gigs in size, so I knew something was wrong. I reinstalled everything again, exactly as I had the first time, and now SampleMoog is working fine. My instruments library is now 4.65 gigs.

For reference, I'm running an up-to-date version of Snow Leopard on an octa-core Mac Pro. I'm not sure why the installation didn't "take" completely the first time. I've downloaded and installed a lot of software, and I would call this a unique occurrence. Throughout the process, I never had more than one installer running at a time, and I didn't get any errors messages. Luckily, though, for me at least, a simple reinstall using the same files fixed the problem.
You're bad... with my help, you could be the worst.

exactly, IK support should be the first point of contact in case of technical problems

Had the same msg:"Instrument not found. then i moved the 1770 Minimoog folder and the others from the instrument folder into the preset folder and now they are loading fine.

Well almost, because the instruments jbriged are kind of sluggish.

I wished it would have been more clear before buying that they are still 32bit.
But hopefully sampletank3 will come along and the gui's will look better on retina screens.
