Btw, post gain @ -10 = silence, is that supposed to be the case?

Really liking this ReLife sunday so far ;)
Yes and no, it was a fast addon i did today...
I can change it if you like.

Postgain added ;)
Also there's a mono version included.
See the first post and re-download the plugin.

Terry.

The settings are now perfect for my needs. Since this is plug-in is more to wards bringing back the dynamics, headroom is essential which, will bring the quality back in the music. 8)

The current state of the plugin is perfect for me as well. Frankly it's incredible. I'm testing it on final, mastered tracks from pressed albums that I felt were too crushed and the difference is pretty incredible and usually positive. Really can't thank you enough for this.

Edit: I am currently running some of my favorite "loud" albums through this and seeing how it sounds, some really amazing results. I can't post anything here obviously because they're commercial and I don't have the right to, but I am pretty stunned by how this seems to be able to conjure up the dynamics that the track might have had if it weren't crushed, apparently from the digital ether. Can you speak at all on how you accomplished it, or is it a secret? :)

Edit 2: You ought to look into making this plugin into a format that can be used in audio players, especially the FooBar 2000 format! You would immediately gain legions of fans, I'm doing A/B comparisons now between pre- and post-processed material and it's really crazy how good of a job this plugin does.

Currently using as a part of my individual track editing. When you don't have 6 assistants working on pre-mix edits, ( gating , general clean up ) the recorded levels definately need to be looked at and this plug-in is GOLDEN!! Thank you Mr. West, This along with Paul Frindle, and Dave Moultons tips and guides, have made my love for being at least a hobby AE that much deeper. Keep Your Voo-Doo vibe going!!!

Ok guys, latest update about ReLife.

Version 1.2 new features: New recover meter, Postgain tweaked, and now 50% less code (faster and smaller filesize) ;)

See first post again for download.

I can't tell much about the "secret", because it's a secret for now.
One thing i can say, it does NOT use any Equalization or Compressor tricks.
I discovered it when using my EasyNY plugin for master a album, how much compressing or limters i used, the resulting song never pumped or clipped.
So the secret was already inside EasyNY...

Hint: use it in your DAW after your master compressor etc to get the best out of your song.

Terry.

Thank you, Terry, i will try this plugin very soon.
THank you for sharing it.

Hi Terry! A smart plugin you have here. Congrats!

I remember (very vaguely) that in Samplitude 6 there was a (offline?) process in the Editor, that "did" something similar to the audio like your plugin does.

I have since stoped using Samp., so I don't have a clue if it's still there.

If this is of any interest to you, perhaps you could "interrogate" some other Samp-heads?

I love to see a review of the plugin from your hand, and update me/us about your a/b comparisons.

Thanks, Terry.

this is great :-o !
I had tried Sonic Foundry's Clipped Peak Restoration plugin,
which works great BTW, I think it also normalizes the track
after it restores the peaks ... but I can't afford it anyway,
so thank you very much for this great tool that you generously offer
to the community :tu:
I will definitely use it on some of my old tracks someday :D

This one is a bit more subtle (I normalized after ).
On my monitors theres a WORLD of difference.

Heres the recording.

NOTE: I purposly pushed the levels of different tracks just to see what would happen ;).

Sure thing, Terry, and thanks again for the plugin. I posted a bit about it in a big software update on my blog, hope you don't mind. I think for educational/non-commercial purposes it's legal to post up to 30-second clips of songs (in the U.S.), so I might be able to post up some A/B comparisons after all with screenshots of the waveforms too. This is too cool of a tool to let slip under the general radar, it sounds great even on heavily compressed material.

Right now I'm using it to process Rush's Vapor Trails album and it actually makes it sound like, you know, musicians making music instead of a big fizzy indistinct mess. As you say, there aren't miracles when it comes to undoing the damage of harsh digital clipping, but as far as restoring transient dynamics and getting some separation this plugin really pulls a HELL of a trick.
