:( mmm...
let me know some more info:
did you get some alert? or just freeze, or terminated?
is it only occured on a specific file (probably huge?)
could you check the memory consumption by TaskManager? still has allowance?
can you send me the .skin-file for investigation?
Normally when this occurs it has the popup that says an exe error as occured and it needs to shut down. What I do at this point is save the file and quite skinman rather then hit the close option on the pop up this way I don't loose my work. I then restart skinman and all will work fine for awhile. I could send you a file but it happens on any file for me from one that has simple four primative to some of the larger ones with a 100+ layers. You could download the Casio VL-1 skin I posted earlier in this thread, that one does it as well.

Let me say this, it normally happens when I have a layer hidden when I open the file, do some work on things and then choose to make it visible in the tree by clicking the eye icon this is when it occurs the majority of the time.

Next time it happens I check the task manager.

i had to go back to V0.98

v0.99 locked up my pc soon as i ran the exe, took nearly 2 mins to load, and the crashes are still there :?

Post

its been fairly stable for me. I do find that clicking on a layer and hitting F2 or del doesn't work, I have to click another layer and then go back then I can hit the key I want. I'm also finding that it moves very slowly so if I want to extend the width of rect and drag it but it is not reflect right a was there is lag time.

0.99 works great here apart from the fact the properties window does not seem to be willing to display at all so it is not useable but no Freeze of the OS or long load time etc...

Post

hello,
thanks for comments. and sorry for the inconvenience.
all your words help my debug :wink:

ver 0.99a

* fix more memory leaks and invalid systemcall(may cause something strange)
* improved load time
* undo-level setting is added

I hope this version solve your problems.
I found some behavier difference among OS ver. It would be helpful if you post with OS ver.

i'll try the update tonight, thanks

:( ok
let me confirm.
* freeze without an alert dialog?
* the .skin is not a specific one? (crash even if small project?)
* could you try 'Undo level' set to '0' (on 'File'-'Setup...' menu)
* could you check memory usage by task manager?

anyone else also still have problems?

i get a standard error box, you know, send report to microsoft etc etc

i was using a rally big project, prob over 100 images (small ones tho, very small)

i basically exported what i had done and started again, so ive kinda split the project into 3 version now, and it works better

initial load time of Skinman is still high, used to be instant (v.97/98)

i'll check undo levels etc and get back to you

hello,

I would like to use some SSE2 instructions in the next release.
what do you think about? earlier CPU support still be needed?

Post

i dont have SSE2 :(

another thing i noticed, i cant type in values for position anymore, im sure i could before....i have to grab the arrow and slide it up/down to move an object.

Post

OK, i will defer the use of SSE2 :wink:

still Im not sure the cause of crashing,
things may be changed because a few minor bugs are fixed.
http://www.g200kg.com/en/software/skinman.html

Ver 0.99b 20091130
* BugFix: Cant edit values in some editboxes
* BugFix: many minor bugfixes
* Alpha gradation support for Image primitives
* Performance optimization
* multilanguage support for Japanese

probably almost of you will not concern, menu/dialog language will be switched to japanese if you use japanese version of windows.
the language is forced by cmdline option '-lj' or '-le'.

thats very kind of you, but dont do it just for me :oops:

im getting a new pc in january tho, so i can live with current version until then if you want to use the SSE2 stuff :wink:

much apreciating the updates, big thanks 8)

Post

0.99b has fixed for me the properties dialog that wouldn't display in 0.99. :)

I didn't want to say but I am running Windows ME (with an XP compatibilty patch) and I have an SSE2 CPU, no problems 8)

Cheers :wink:

Post

g200kg, thanks for adding the support for gradation with image files!

however, it wouldn't be me, if i wouldn't have the next feature request already at hand, is it :):
could you maybe add mirroring for images, please (sothat everything that is left, is then right)? because if i'd like to do that mirror effect seen on websites often (the screenshot itself, and on the bottom theres a mirror of the same screen, fading into the background). i can't do it, as, if i use the angle with 180 degrees, the picture swaps the side also, so everything that was left, is right, when i use 180 degrees of rotation ... understand what i mean?
