Removing slide noises from acoustic guitar track?

OP : I'm the developer of Photosounder, and that sounds like a good use for it! I've never demoed anything like that, and I'm trying to demo everything I can think of (but it's hard to come up with the right ideas AND the right samples to demo them, really hard). Could you send me the samples so I can try this and make a video tutorial out of this if I can get anything good out of it? I would of course send you the results.

the photoshop to sound program IS really cool, but is hardly time-precise. It's a very coarse way of doing things.

Hmm didn't see the dev here before that last post. A good suggestion from me is to make a way to generate an image from a sound that fits an fft block into a certain integer number of pixels. That seems like an easy way to get a finer result with the image-to-fft processing. Does it do that already? Can it also make an integer divide based on tempo?

Well now you can tweak the settings (in the file config.txt) if you need more time precision (at the expense of some frequency resolution, no app out there will allow you to get both at the same time, yet.).

I only appear when you say "Photosounder" 3 times ;-). Hmm, not sure what you mean by that but it seems like what you're asking can be obtained by setting 'min_bpo' in config.txt to 0. That way the time resolution is the same (you can set that in the file too) for all frequencies and it looks more like what you get with a regular STFT.

But most of the time intermediate values of 'min_bpo' do great. I often use a value of 6 (instead of 24 by default) when I need more precision in the lower frequencies. The default settings are by no means the best settings in all situations, I tweak my settings all the time and so should do any experienced user of Photosounder.

Ah and people mentioned using it in conjunction with Photoshop but lately I've improved the built-in editing tools of Photosounder a lot so you can do a lot more without using any external program. Even got some harmonic brush tools with snapping and smart erasure...

Ah and it doesn't do anything based on tempo but you can set settings to whatever you need after you calculate just what you need.

Just what I was asking about, like how could I tell it to make every 16 pixels a time interval of 250ms?

Well, a time interval of 250 ms happens 4 times a second, and 16 pixels for each makes 4 x 16 = 64 pixels per second. So you can set 'pixels_per_second' to 64, and if you want no time leakage on any frequency set 'min_bpo' to 0.

Hi, I'm the OP. Thanks for the offer but I managed to clean up my tracks in Magix Audio Cleaning Lab using the spectral editor and I don't have the original unprocessed files anymore.
The music isn't mine, it belongs to a client, so I wouldn't be able to give it to you anyway. :shrug:

Damn I didn't know about that tool. There is a lil' vst effect that you apply via MIDI. It's called Sniper, and it might get your problem solved. Put it before the reverb, and play a note slightly before the fret noise is heard. Not sure if that helps, but it might just be as crazy as the photosounder program. :)

That's cool, but it supposes the note isn't out of tune ;)
