I've added a step sequencer.
I've also added sound morphing capability to each instrument where you can crossfade between 4 different sounds on an xy pad. For example, on a high hat you could specify both a hit location (bell vs edge) and openness for each hit. This can be controlled using host automation or the new step sequencer.
Anything in particular you were looking for?

I would like to know what's your upgrade policy for future version? And do you plan a price increase for future version? Also, are the license tranferable?
Thank you!
edit: Do you have future products plan for SonicSidekick? I know it's probably too soon to ask but I'm a curious person

At least in the near term future, I'm not planning to raise the price, but if at some point I do, existing customers will be able to upgrade for the difference in price.
Also, are the license tranferable?
The license can be transferred for a small fee.
I've got some ideas, but haven't started coding any of them. I'll have to see what happens when I've finished adding things to Extreme DrumSynth.Do you have future products plan for SonicSidekick? I know it's probably too soon to ask but I'm a curious person

If anyone wants to test out the next version of Extreme Drumsynth, it's available here:
Extreme DrumSynth
I've added a step sequencer, sound blending, and envelope curves. Please let me know if you notice any issues.

Hey Xing,
I'm just testing it now. Seems stable in energyXT and sounding better than ever.
The morphing feature is very cool and I like how I can use it in the sequencer. The sequencer itself is very promising - except I can't get my head around the dice. How do I control it's playback sequnce? Can you give a quick explanation?
Cheers

For each sequence, there are six pattern variations which get selected by the dice. So, for example if the dice shows number 4, all of the notes where variation 4 is enabled will play.stimresp wrote:Hey Xing,

So, for the main notes of your pattern, enable all 6 variations, and for ghost notes, enable just a few of the variations.
You can also use it to randomly alternate between drum hits. For example, you could make the snare play for variation 1,2, and 3, and make the tom play for variations 4,5, and 6.
The pattern sequencing is controlled by clicking on the pattern selector (by the play button). From there you can select how many times the current pattern gets repeated, and the next pattern in the chain. Note that the pattern won't automatically change while the lock icon is on, although midi notes can still change the pattern.

Xing,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
This is great stuff - I had figured out what you explained through trial and error, but the one thing I still cannot understand is how I control the variation playback order. On the deafault patch I can see the dice changing from 5 to 3 to 1, etc.
What if, for example I want to play just variation 1 on the dice?
Sorry if this seems a stupid question - I must be missing something obvious.
Thanks again!

As it is right now, there is no way to control which variation plays. I intended this to be used to make it easy to make slight variations to patterns where you don't care which variation plays. If you want an exact pattern to play, I would create a new pattern without any variations.
I Hope that makes sense.
If there's a reason you would want more control like you describe, let me know. Maybe I just haven't thought through all the different ways of using the feature.

ahhh, I see - so the variation playback sequence is random....
This makes sense now, and is absolutely fine by me, but I can imagine there are those who would want finer control for sequencing.
Nice work! I can see myself using this a lot. Thanks again

Initial reaction to the step sequencer: you've hit another home run!
Okay, beyond that...
1. When I enable a new step, I'm not clear how it determines which variations will be added by default.
2. How does chaining sequences work?
3. Even with the lock enabled, it would sometimes spontaneously disable again, and sequences would begin chaining.
4. When randomizing drum sounds, it appears that sometimes sounds other than the one currently selected are getting randomized.
I'll have to play with this some more before I can add anything else.
