NEREID - has a highly elliptical orbit that causes it to swing around Neptune at various distances.
I chose this one as there is movement in the sounds your
new synth makes. sometimes the sounds almost sound eliptical.

Yes...Troposphere is indeed too close to the Spectrasonics line.
Three Latin words:
Eximius (extraordinary, excellent, fine, superb)
Forma (form, shape, beauty)
Delecto (attract, delight /take delight in)

Atmos or Athmos, simple, catchy, and avoids conflicts with Spectrasonics products.
Some novelty ones:
Inritus - Irritus -- Latin for "void"
Caliga -- Latin for "darkness"
Tractus -- Latin for "space"
Latin names FTW

I've been playing around with this for a bit.
My name idea : "Ambiogenera"
(pronounced whichever way you wish but I say "ambio jen era" as it has sun god ra (and I know how Mr Fortune loves his Gods)
Because it seems to me to generate lots of very different ambiances.

just my 2cents: it's got too many syllables Am_bi_o_gen_e_ra.objectman wrote:I've been playing around with this for a bit.

So actually Ambiosfera, Ambiospectra or Ambionyx more or less composed from suggestions here would provide better sounding solutions. You have to speak it loud to hear it actually sounding and watch the flow of syllables.
Another example: Cronoraptor sounds great and meaningful, roughly translates to 'predator of time' but it's got no link to the plugin
cheers

Words that begin with ambio are a bit too restrictive fo rme since all synths I know of which are great for ambient have unrelated names. People get the idea once they here the sounds. Plus this synth can be used for scoring soundtracks, games and lots of other work (even a sustained background in pop) so I don't see the need to nail the name down so much to one genre.
Amorphous is one name which came to mind since the sounds float a lot and somthing amorphous lacks definite form. But probably also a word connotes straage, weird and out of this world would also be great although lots of sounds in Fortune synths are out of this world.
