I've been good this year. The only significant expenditure was Sonar 8.5P (upgrade from 7P), other than that a few inexpensive sample sets to go with K3 I got myself for Christmas last year (for US$75).
Oh, I did buy Live7 used, but I turned around and sold it two months later (it just didn't click with me). I only lost $7.50 on the sale, so no complaints.

I seem to only get to about 2 weeks in between purchases
NI has gotten a big chunk of cash from me lately........
prebass
the finger
kore 2
guitar rig 4
Guitar rig is pretty new to me so I don't know long run how it will work out......but the others are great (kore 2 is giving me new dimensions, but it's really the finger and prebass that are nearly indispensable to me right now!)

It's been 26 days since I bought anything.........
pro q is a calling, but I'm peeved about it not being 119, and actually being 147 (remember to de-select the ones you are NOT getting in your account!)
I'm passing on the NI deal...

It's very hard to pass on the NI deals. Congratulations.
I want a "real" instrument this year. I'm reminding myself every time I pass on one of these holiday deals I'm that much closer to a new lap steel or a Korg Wavedrum.

For me, I shouldn't try the demo, really like this one specially the Arpeggiator (Too hard to resist for $20.00). Will be the last one this year, I'm holding on Trilian upgrade for next year.

Hey bd long time no type eh? Anyways I completely agree.. for me only the really cheap stuff that I could USE (such as Nitro) has been interesting to me.. beyond that I think I have a good enough set up these days..bluedad wrote:Seriously, I don't need anything..but then deals like the one for psp nitro come along..
I realized many years ago that, for me, repeatedly throwing money on the matter (writing music) won't really make me a better 'artist'..
hrmmm.. I guess higher quality plugins and sound sources will make it SOUND better, but not really make the music's ideas itself that much better. I think that comes from the 'heart' instead.. and debt is never fun.

I looked long and hard at those sites the other day.
A lap steel should be one of the easiest instruments to build. And it would make it cheaper, but not significantly since the only tool I own from that long list is a pencil.
So, I think I'll leave the building to the already kitted and the mechanically inclined.
This is the lap steel I'm looking at-

that's beautiful Cordelia, Chandler use to make sweet necks (not sure if they still do). However I'm intrigued by the first link in my post, I believe my buddy has planer. I have the hardware, a couple pieces of wood, build a nut and bridge, how much could it cost?
