The Blue Cheer ! In the beginning they were promoted as the loudest band.

And indeed they made a lot of noise in those days !

Vanilla Fudge is more my cup of tea though.

Oh, yeah : nice reviews and lovely voting going on.

I remember.. there was also Quicksilver Messenger Service.

I may have left some of my hearing back there.

There was a discussion about the rules around collaboriating in the January Gossip thread, and Scoops started using the new language in the February Submission thread. I believe it's been in place since then.

Well, the joke around these parts (which were the stomping grounds for both of those bands) might go something like "if you actually do remember, and if all you lost was your hearing, you weren't really there."

I was too young and overly protected to get into any of that but the first two albums that freed me from The Monkees hell were "Are You Experienced" and "Vincebus Eruptum".

Blue Cheer was certainly not at the level of Hendrix and in some respects they were probably pretty awful but they still occupy a special place in that crazy period of one's puberty and I still recall the amazing energy of seeing both of them play live.

Eh, enough of that...

Yep, I believe the phrase they used was "LOUDER THAN GOD".

They may not have had anything close to Hendrix's skill, but that's irrelevant to me, because (for the most part) they were HEAVIER than Hendrix.

Massive plodding proto-metal blues riffs that shake you down to your bones. I think you were the only other person here 'sides myself to acknowledge his passing, the guy was a total legend who sounded great until the very end.

If you really want some heavy sloppy stuff like Blue Cheer that would make even them sound like virtuosos in comparison, it's worth tracking down some of the stuff a bunch of session musicians recorded under the name .

Am I the only one who sees a lack of correlation between votes and angry entries in this contest which has a theme of angry? Not begrudging anyone their votes, but I have to say I'm surprised that the theme seems to have been kicked to the side as far as voting is concerned.

Maybe it's just me.

That's what I was going on about earlier in the thread. It's this thing that happens. With this theme and these entries, voting was destined to be all over the map.

Scoops (as usual) threw an extra spanner in the works by reducing the anger quotent when he said the entry could either be to piss others off, or to express pissed-offness of the contrubutor.
