RMV version 5.0.5 - as with the previous version, has problems with tempo changes under Cubase 5.
With no loops loaded - just driving any kit from a midi track.
Stepped tempo changes just about work ok (can cause a spike)
Ramped tempo changes cause a very heavy cpu load & spikes.
The steeper the ramp, the worse it is.
I can get 100% cpu in an empty project, playing only the RMV from a midi track (which - without tempo changes - runs at 1% cpu), by putting in a ramp tempo change, from 130 to 100 bpm over 2 bars.
(CPU is Intel Core i7 965).
Version 5.0.1 doesn't suffer from this problem at all.
Apart from this though (and a load of error messages and a crash the first time I installed the 64bit version) both the 32bit & the 64bit versions seem pretty good so far under Win7 64bit & Cubase 5 32 & 64 bit.

Thank you Tony,
I confirm this behaviour. Although I'm quite sure what causes this, its probably not easy to resolve, however, I iwll see that we can (massively) improve this somehow. It may take some time though.

That's fine Peter. Just glad to have a 64 bit version really !!
I only ever use the main drum pads in RMV. The loops stuff is all useless to me. (I use the RMV as the "vi brain" for my midi drum kit.. no need for loops .. I just need reliable sample playback of anything I throw at it .. along with easy methods of trying out new sounds on one pad in a kit{which RMV does very well .. the new library functions were worth the upgrade alone !!})
I'm guessing that it's the loop functions that cause this problem with tempo changes ?
Personally, for me, a new preference labled "Incoming Midi Only" would be good enough .. (or RMIV mode !!) -- where all the audio loop stuff is disabled, tempo follow becomes irrelivent, (except delay fx timings !) .. could be an easy "Quick Fix" ??
The manual could point out that it's only necessary to tick this "when using large ammounts of tempo changes in the host".
It's just that I wouldn't want you to put loads of time into fixing this, if I'm the only person that's ever going to be bothered by it !!!

Thanks for your ideas, and no matter how many people are affected, I will see if we get it done!

Sorry not wating to hijack but I see still no fix on the stop playback CPU hike in Live (when stopping playback CPU spikes 20%) and no fix on contrast of amp envelope display? Pity - not big issues, but they were mentioned more than once during the beta. RMV still beats the pants off GURU which has it's own issues
