Dec. 18: The 3 packs have been updated they have more than doubled in size. They now contain 341 samples (179 MB)!

Also don't forget to listen to the fun track D.H. Miltz made using a few of the samples from the Holidays Packs in the KVR Music Cafe:

Those who already have downloaded the Nov. 30 version of the free pack don't need to download it again. The newly added samples are in a separate download on the webpage.

In the next 2 days, I will email to those who have purchased at least one of our sample sets the download link(s) for the Bonus Pack(s) they earned with their purchase(s), thanks again for your support!

These sample packs are meant to be both a gift and a bonus for people who
purchase one or more of our sample sets during the 2009 Holidays, starting
November 14.

These samples will be available for a limited time for the 2009 Holidays.
They are taken from Public Domain/Open Source movies, TV shows and TV ads.
These movies are usually old and the sound quality is often not great and
they're noisy too.

Note that not all the samples are related to the Holidays theme, anything
that I find fun and/or interesting is included in the packs.. They contain voice/spoken words/ dialogs, sfx. music and other stuff.

There are 3 Holidays Packs:

- the Free Pack (117 samples, 53 MB) that everyone can download from the page below.
- the Bonus Pack 1 (101 samples, 53.7 MB) given to people who will buy up to $15 of our sample sets.
- the Bonus Pack 2 (123 samples, 72.5 MB) given to people who will buy more than $15 of our sample sets

The complete list of the samples and their type is available on the page below and is also included in the Free Pack downloads.

Version 2 of the Free Pack is released, it now has 18 samples (5.5 MB download). Most of the samples added today are in the SciFi category. It can be downloaded from the Official Page (see first post).

I've edited the first post with the new information.

Free Pack updated, now has 58 samples!
Also I will send the download links for the Bonus Packs in a day or two.
Currently the 3 packs together contain 140 samples. The complete list is on the website and is also included in the Free Pack download

I was delayed in downloading this due to various stuff. I'll check them when I get back from work.
I'm surprised nobody has jumped on these though, especially in the light the attention free sample packs uauslly get aound here

I'm surprised myself, my Halloween pack got a good response, maybe people prefer Halloween to Xmas! I am beginning to believe that I am the only one finding that it's an interesting idea.

Note that many of these samples are not specific to the Holidays and can be used in other contexts. Also one of my main goals is to include samples that are fun.

I think Halloween has a broader appeal due the the more sinister nature of what's related to it. Sometimes it's easier to incorporate in various music styles and since a lot of people on KVR are dealing with the more soundscape/sound collage stuff, it might be why they were more successful. I never got that Halloween pavk though so I can't really comment on the quality myself.
That said, I downloaded the free pack and I was instantly inspired to do a Bomb The Bass style samples collage type track but with a Christmas theme (I haven't made one yet though, but I might if I get some spare time). Like a "Beat Dis" meets Santa

These samples are great for that type of thing but if you cut some of them up and get rid of the actual Christmas related phrases/words they're useful for many types of music too. Shame about a few being abruptly cut off though sometimes in the middle of a sentence.
People with a sense of nostalgia for post WWII commercials and films should jump on these for sure though. With some editing they're quite useful

You're welcome! To have fun samples was my primary goal.
Also if I am not mistaken, you're one of the persons who purchased more than $15 since Nov. 14th and thus you also received the links to download the 2 Bonus Packs. Have you also tried them?

I am not surprised that Halloween may appeal more to many on KVR. That's why I have included samples that are not Xmas related and also many of the saamples in the Xmas folder are sfx or otherwise can easily be used in other contexts.

Many of the samples, either the Christmas ones or the SciFi ones, can easily be cut in smaller pieces to widen the possible use.

Some do indeed cut off more or less abruptly for a variety of reasons. Usually it's because other sounds (music, foley sounds, etc.) crept in and greatly reduced the appeal of a longer sample in that case. At other times it's because the following dialog was not interesting or useful, sometimes it was even a downer (at least in my opinion). Note also that all the samples that have their name ending with "part" do have a longer version in the Bonus Packs.

I am glad that you're enjoying them!
Indeed further editing may be required. Like I wrote in the readme, I had to leave some fun to users!

Note to everyone: I will add more samples to the 3 Packs before Christmas. I don't know exactly how many, to be frank this depends partly on the response these packs have, but more are on the way.

I have. I should have been clear that I meant all of them. (And actually I think I was just shy of the limit for the second bonus pack but you included me anyway, so thank you for that.)

Does anyone else, besides D.H. Miltz and K-Bee find these samples fun and/or interesting? Should I keep on adding samples to these packs?
