By the way, trust goes both ways. We also work very hard to earn YOUR trust and it is very important to us at Sonic Reality and eSoundz. We're not perfect but we always care and work on improving. We've been around for 14 years and the only way a company can stay around that long in this niche industry is because of customer loyalty. When it comes to customer service we treat the customer right and bend over backwards to make them happy and probably do more things "beyond policy" than any other company in the industry. There's many here on KVR who know what I'm talking about (and they don't need to explain their personal experience in detail but if they want to endorse our support team for taking good care of them that's always nice for new esoundz customers - and this is already done if you look in the SR/eSoundz forum where it's on topic).

When it comes to the quality of sounds, this is a subjective area and that's why I like to be on the forums myself to talk about them. I am the owner of Sonic Reality and do most of the sample sessions with the various producer/engineers we work with. We have many employees who work for the company who can talk about our products and if you ever go to the NAMM show you can meet a bunch of them! But I've always felt the need to be on line myself and in touch with our customers to hear their feedback so we could integrate what our users and potential users want. I also want to be able to tell you about our sounds from the birth of the intention to create it to the end result. I know WHY we captured them and what they are meant to be for and I am honest about how they came out! I try to be objective as possible and I know people appreciate that. Sure, I DO hype... I am a hype machine! But all in good fun and while I am a salesman at heart I always try to make it fun and interesting as opposed to just "buy now, but wait there's more!". You don't get a set of steak knives... but you might get bonus hybrid kit patches and V-Drum/Round Robin support. Which do YOU prefer? ;)

Anyway, Sonic Reality has won many awards and we're known for producing quality sounds. One difference between us and many other sound companies is this. MOST sound companies either just do one main area (like just drums or just orchestral sounds etc.) OR they are distributors of multiple sound developer's work which can be inconsistent from one product to the next! They seem like they're all made by that company but actually when you read more closely some are and some aren't. For Sonic Reality products, we're involved in the production of every single on in the range AND our motto is "Sample Everything" which we do literally! We're perhaps the only single sound company on the planet that has sampled nearly every vintage keyboard and synth, every brand of drum kit, tons of guitars, basses, world instruments, cathedral organs, orchestras and voices all from one consistent source. That's the level of dedication and the mammoth mission we've taken on since the beginning. We're not always 100% consistent across the board since we're not perfect and there are improvements over time. But, everything we have has our philosophy behind it and a big picture purpose connected with it. We're trying to cover the bases for the musician, songwriter, producer and performer (now getting into sound design for film, video games and other areas that have sound needs). We're only still around all this time because we've done a good job so far... and I think the BEST of Sonic Reality is about to come NOW and in 2010. The best work you've ever seen from us! So, a great time to get into what we're doing and to invest in a sound collection that will hopefully inspire you and suit your musical needs.

Okay, I'll get off the soap box. I just thought it might be good to hear that from the horse's mouth for people new to SR or eSoundz. Or from the Squids' beak.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program about DRRRRRUUUUUUMMMMMMMZZZZZZ!

By the way, you're all VERY close to the next price drop to $109! That's the second to last drop reached in less than 5 days! I think that might be a record for us! BRAVO GROUP!

Are these "mix kits" 12 non-multichannel Ocean Way kits or 4 kits with dry, medium and ambient settings?
Some are pre-mixed dry. Others are medium and Ambient. Is that what you're asking?
Not quite, just basically how many actual kits are included.

eg

Retail Ocean Way Drums DL contains 5 kits, with a voucher to get another 2. That's 7 actual kits (duh), but I'm wondering whether these would be 21 of these "mix kits" that are talked about in the Group Buy, because they all have Dry, Medium and Ambient presets.

Or are the "mix kits" made up of less than 4 kits with different drums from 2 or 3 making them up?
I was thinking that Squids would answer. I know he'll do a better job, but here goes:

With the multi-channel OWD kits, you can freely mix how much abmience (overhead & room mics) use use in the kits. With these it is already decided. These are the OWD kits:

From the Ocean Way® Drums DL Series:

OWD Kit 1 Dry

A dry mix of Ocean Way® Drums Kit 1 which is a solid kit versatile for many styles. It's based around a DW® set and like other Ocean Way Drum Kits it was recorded in the legendary Studio B at Ocean Way Recording in Los Angeles.

OWD Kit 2 Medium

A medium dry to ambient mix of Ocean Way® Drum Kit 2 which features a HUGE sounding kick and a snare that pops! Great for Hip Hop to R&B to Pop.

OWD Kit 4 Dry

A dry mix of Ocean Way® Drums Kit 4 with a very tight direct sound. In this bundle it is a great complement to the ambient mix (also included) so you can get an idea of what the full Ocean Way® Drums titles that feature 3 mixes (DL) or 6 preset mixes (Silver, Gold, Platinum) per drum kit are like.

OWD Kit 4 Ambient

As a contrast to the dry mix, this ambient mix of Ocean Way® Drum Kit 4 has the larger than life sound of Studio B which makes it massive and powerful. This features thwacky toms with good tone and very natural overtones on the snare drum.

OWD Kit 5 Medium

A great all around rock and pop kit based on a rare Premier® set. It is a medium dry to ambient mix of Ocean Way® Drum Kit 5.

OWD Kit 6 Ambient

Here's another HUGE drum kit that takes advantage of the ambient room sound of Ocean Way® Drums. It is an ambient mix of Ocean Way® Drum Kit 6.

OWD Kit 8 Dry

A crystal clear upfront sounding drum kit, this is a dry mix of Ocean Way® Drum Kit 8.

OWD Kit 9 Dry

A flexible direct sounding mix of Ocean Way® Drum Kit 9 which features a Ludwig® set.

OWD Kit 10 Dry

One of many people's favorite Ocean Way® Drum Kits is Kit 10. To complement the limited-time free Ocean Way® Drum Kit 10 medium mix, in this bundle we offer both the dry and ambient mixes as well. All together you get an example of the three dry, medium and ambient mixes per kit that you get in a product such as Ocean Way® Drums DL Edition.

OWD Kit 10 Ambient

This show the difference in sound between dry, medium and ambient mixes. A much larger drum sound featuring a blend of room mics in Studio B. This is an ambient mix of Ocean Way® Drums Kit 10.

OWD Kit 12 Dry

A flexible direct mix featuring a Gretsch® drum kit, this is a dry mix of Ocean Way® Drum kit 12. A very modern-retro sound with meaty toms.

OWD Kit 13 Medium

A very solid kit with a great blend of dry and ambient mics, this is a medium mix of Ocean Way® Drum Kit 13.

And how much control do you have over them. Is it complete multitrack out: snare top, snare bottom etc. or is it just a stereo feed ?

Is there a Drum Masters downloadable demo kit ?

Is it possible to get a reply with less than say... 40 words ? :D

Not quite, just basically how many actual kits are included.

There are 19 kits in the Ocean Way Drums Gold Edition. The DL Series has 15 of those kits with 3 mixes each - a dry, medium and ambient mix (the original Gold has 6 preset mixes each from dry to ambient and of course you can do your own blends of the individual discrete mics yourself... a lot to work with such as 3 different room positions, AMS RMX returns, under-snare mics... even STEREO under snare mics... it is probably the most deluxe mic mixing there is!).

You can also listen to and purchase them kit by kit a la carte here: www.downloadablesoundz.com/o2.php (Just remember you DO need the separate Ocean Way Drums Expandable Player to play THOSE versions as opposed to the kits in this group buy which work with the Infinite Player instead). While the whole DL series has 15 kits, the OWD DL Edition comes with 5 of them and you can pick two more out of the other 10 (and then add from there a la carte if you want more).

And while each of those standard DL kits comes with the THREE mixes from dry to medium to ambient, the kits in THIS group buy are just one or two mixes... but a wider variety of kits in the first place and half the price of DL Edition.

In this group buy you get 8 Ocean Way Drum DL kits with ONE mix and 2 that have TWO mix versions. So... that's 10 original kits from the 15 and two of them have extra mix version so you can see what that's like. That's why if you buy this group buy and you decide you LOVE certain kits and would really like alternate mixes or maybe even FULL discrete control of the mics of that kit you can pick up the OWD Expandable Player and any DL or Multichannel kit you see on this page: www.downloadablesoundz.com/o2.php OR if you're satisfied with what you have then you get MORE OWD variety of kits for the money than ever offered before (and likely to be ever offered again).

By the way, there are also 15 kits from the Drum Masters 2 series which is a COMPLETELY different product range and recorded in other studios besides Ocean Way. That's why we call it the "Ultimate Studio Drums" bundle. You get a lot of different studio drum sounds in one package for a HIGHLY affordable price. We tried to make it as an easy a decision as possible so we could get the message across to as many people as we could in a short period of time. From THERE you can expand into the areas you want more of now that you're introduced to the worlds of Ocean Way Drums and Drum Masters.

Thanks Rev for listing out the kits so I could make my post a reasonable size!

Hmmm. I'll try but no guarantees... man, how many did I just use up to say that??? Ok... startingggggggg NOW!

You can hear some of the Drum Masters demos on the group buy page on the left: http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?Prod ... SDKVRdemos

The ones that don't have OWD at the beginning are Drum Masters kit demos. But, this weekend I am doing a dual purpose demo showing both what EACH Drum Masters 2 kit demo sounds like in this bundle (those are just some of them) AND at the same time what some of the cool bonus midi files sound like that come with this bundle. Killing two birds with one stone and... oh man, forget the 40 words. Ain't gonna happen! ;)

As for how much control, you have control over each instrument within the kit which goes out its own output OR stereo output with mixing you can do in the plug-in here:

Lastly, there isn't yet a Drum Masters 2 downloadable demo kit but there will likely be one some time next week!

Not 40 words but I hope I answered your questions well enough!

Does the player do anything that Kontakt 4 cannot do....or in other words: Can I load the samples into Kontakt 4?

That was lovely Squids.

Cheers

You can load the samples into Kontakt 4 as long as you've authorized a purchased Infinite Player. If you join this group buy you get the Infinite Player code which gets authorized through NI's service center and it allows the sounds to work in Kontakt 4... without doing that the sounds will not work in Kontakt 4.

The reason it is called "Infinite Player" is because it is usually bundled with the Kontakt Player and no one NEEDS to own a sampler like full Kontakt 4 to be able to use it. But, if you DO have Kontakt 3.5 or 4 then THAT becomes the "Player" and the Infinite serial acts as an "unlock code" for the copy protection of the sample library... so it can load into your Kontakt 4 and you can have even more control of the sound.

You might have been asked before but - are Squid's Tron and other libs coming to IP soon(ish)?

I much prefer IP/Kontakt over Sampletank. No reason really, it's just the interface I'm most familiar with.

We have a "Tron Kapsule" that is coming for around $50 which has the main stuff and then later on we will do the complete Squids Tron Collection including sounds that have yet to be released in anything so far. I have master tapes from the Chamberlin archives that I need to run off as well as some Mellotron sounds we've sampled and more Optigan sounds too. We did all of the sounds for SampleTron (which is a GREAT plug-in to have because the built-in effects are idea for vintage instruments). But whether you have that or not, if you want those kinds of sounds for the Infinite Player/Kontakt platform then it's coming.

I'd crossgrade the stuff from "weird and wonderful sounds" GB from a year or so ago in a minute.
