Rogue Seems interesting, comparing to synth1 if thats the other option. I just listened to those OSC1 tunes and some were pretty amazing! :shock:
So Rogue would be more fun since I assume its less known.

Mouxbar, re that big fat zero ... all I can say is there's a first time for everything :hihi:
Yeah, that's what they said to me on my first day at the Crash Test Dummy Training School. :hihi:

I just had a quick run with Rogue and can't see any problems. Certainly has the "interesting" ticket sound wise. CPU OK, no stutters on a few instances. Obviously monophonic but that's not stopped us in the past... 8)

All I can say is that those with more fussy DAWS/multicores might want to check it out before it gets the green light.

Other than that, I like it :D

Cheers,
Mouxbar

I like the looks of that Rogue synth too. As for the sound I don't know since I'm at work (doing private posting :-o ) and haven't downloaded yet.
I've used Synth1 plenty of times and like it a lot but I'd rather dig into this one I think. Count me in for a Rogue osc :) I (hope I)have time to do it now :D :?

Post

There's no conflict with the Synth1 revisited idea, I had suggested that for Feb/March to mark one year of One-Synth-Challenge :)
I'll be launching the Flex-N-Stein4 contest in the next couple of days, and will time it so there's an extended voting period over xmas and N.year.... so we can take it easy :)

The Jan comp will start a few days into the new year, and we'll squeeze another one in for Feb, and launch the anniversary comp ( Synth1 if thats OK with everyone ) on Valentines day ( the date the concept was launched by that infamous ex KVR member whos name I forget :hihi: )

So if Rogue continues to get the interest it is recieving, then we'll go for it in the new year :)

Anyway, back on topic .... any more votes?

7 days to go!

OK, the deed is done, and here's the verdict!

Acid trip - Great fuzzy sounds. Nice construction, atmospheric tense ...and spacious enough to accomodate filling out with that big build up towards a great ending. The pad rules!

AmbiYense - very evocative, airy sounds and elusive melody give way to a more structured, yet abstract section, this also giving way to a third 'scene' to resolve the 'story'. good range of sounds and a nice little journey.

Bad Bad Acidrack - Ah .. its my old Atari!! .. on Acid! Love the 'backward' sounds in here .... yeah, plenty of powerups, tumbling down platforms, and then a siren as the ambulence arrives, and the player characters winged soul float off out of the top of the screen!

Cheese Rack - Nice lead sounds! Good contrast in the breakdown. good collection of strong sounds, particurlarly that low airy pipe sound, but track a little underdeveloped perhaps.

eatacidbefresh - Wow, this is tribal-trip! This track just keeps moving and jumping around, great sounds ... all have their time and space and yet demand attention!

Good Acidrack - This one is a little disturbing .. but in a good way. the juxtaposition between the 'music box' and the harsh growling bass warns that something is gonna kick off , then we all go running and tumbling down a soft grassy hill!

Last Transmission - Great sounds altogether ... powerful production ... has a film score quality. Good composition, keeps moving along smoothly but never predictable. has a melancholic, and yet uplifting complexion.

Slowly Going Nowhere - Great production, great sounds across the board, variety via the sound manipulation holds attention ... sells the synth for sure!

Sync or Swim - Great sounds, the kit is particularly good! good clean production, strong composition, very melodic, good variety of lead sounds, excellent musical dynamics ... In a word, superb!

Winter Pling - This one makes me smile! Nice sounds, Simple and effective melodies, evocative of nursery rhymes, Mary Poppins and fairy tales ... theres even a frog in there! ... A real feelgood track.

......All in all, this collection is simply a fantastic experience. Please, please can we submit a sample set??? ... Everyone who has submitted has at least one preset I would dearly love to get my hands on!

... So now it comes to the hard part! But the first bit is easy.

5 points to Sync or Swim! great piece of work!
With a little dilemma whether I'm voting for the track rather than the use of the synth, I have listened again to ascertain both criteria are satisfied as I give ...

3 points to eatacidbefresh ... love the variety of textures.
... and now it gets really hard.. but ... ( do it!!! )...

1 point to AcidTrip ....because it took me somewhere strange, but took me safely home again!

.... Thanks to all contributors for this great collection of tracks. Stunning stuff!

Now, I would update the chart, but its getting late, and if I have another gin, I'll listen again and change my mind/votes completely :hihi: ... so, if you dont mind ....

2(2=) AcidTrip - Totolitoto ... 5, 3, 1, 1, 5, 3, 5, 1 = 24
3(2=) AcidRocks - tattiemannie ... 1, 1, 3, 3, 5, 5 = 18
4(4) Slowly Going Nowhere - Yeager ... 5, 5, 1 = 11
5=(5) AmbiYense - WrigglerUk ... 5, 1, 1 = 7
5=(8=) eatacidbefresh - jonboyd ... 3, 1, 3 = 7
7(6) Winter pling - dwsel ... 1, 1, 3 = 5
8(7) Bad-Bad-Acidrack - mrblitz000 ... 3, 1 = 4
9(8=) Last Transmission from the Astrayed Star - Xenobioz ... 3
10=(10=) Cheese Rack - Mouxbar
10=(10=) Good-Acidrack---mrblitz000

( Total voters: 12, Total points: 108 )

'Sync or Swim' regains a healthy lead, but 'AcidTrip' is hanging in there. 'AcidRocks' challenge looks to have fizzled out, but looks safe for runner up status unless we get a serious voting flurry over the next couple of days ... (hints)
Highest climber is eatacidbefresh, picking up 4 points and moving up 3 places, and could yet be among the prizes! :-o

... C'mon, more votes please, we need a finale! All links on page 1, great tracks to listen to ... whaddya waiting for ?? :shrug:
