I have just got an reply from Eric at AAS about distributing my own skin, I asked if I could share it and they have no problem with that. Eric say there must have been a misunderstanding of some kind, they do allow user skins to be freely distributed. I will point him to this thread by email.

thanks for these skins; very nice. my own attempts looked terrible (i'm a musician, not a graphic artist). thanks.
edit: can't get them to work on a mac. the original bitmaps are .png, and the new skin is .bmp. tried converting them, switched them out and when I opened ultra analog it was blank (no GUI at all). any ideas what I am doing wrong? really like your skin though.
I am having this same problem on my Mac, I hope there's some sort of work-around because your skin looks so much better than the stock design.
I'm on a Macbook Pro. I just opened the skin .bmp:s in Photoshop, saved them as .png:s (not progressive!), put them in the folder where they belong and hey! presto - the new skin was there when I launched UA.

One thing, though - for some reason, the character backgrounds showed up as pink (magenta), not cyan as in the screen dump. So, back to Photoshop, added a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, shifted the phase of magenta to cyan, flattened the image and re-saved. Done!

Best,

Joachim
If it were easy, anybody could do it!

So the backgrounds are .bmp for PC and .png for Mac?
I'll make an update and add png to fix that asap!

perhaps it is because of a transparency layer issue.
.bmps don't have any, though .pngs do, right?
..what goes around comes around..

One final bump from me ;)
If you haven't got these sounds yet I suggest you do, they are dirt cheap and top notch quality. Even at full price (after today) they are a real bargain.
Awesome work Xenos! :tu:

Indeed, for Mac you would use .png and for pc you would use .bmp

Have you thought of using a cross platform file format like .jpg or perhaps even .gif? Would Ultra Analog read those formats?

As far as skins in general... I actually like the default skin. I guess that's just me! Though you did do a nice job with your skin too, Limeflavour. Looks nice! :)

Hmm... I might give it a go too at some point. Just for fun. Though don't have the time at the moment to mess around with that.

I bought both banks of sounds from Xenos and I am extremely happy with my purchase, they sound great. This, along with the new and improved Lime Flavour skin has really made me realize what an awesome synth Ultra Analog is.

I just jumped on the software bandwagon 2 months ago after spending 12 years completely in the hardware realm. I bought the Korg Legacy Collection, FM8, Analog Factory, and Ultra Analog, and between those 4, I feel that if I want to, I can completely replace my hardware equivalents. I believe the sound of soft synths is close enough for my ears now, and are only getting better.

Glad to see you are happy with your purchase, Illustrious :). Ultra Analog was definitely an underrated synth and I like it a lot myself.

Software has definitely improved quite a lot since its early days. Back in '03, I started using software and it didn't even come close to what my hardware could do, with the exception being NI's FM7 and Absynth. If it weren't for those two synths, I would have shunned softsynths and stayed with hardware only. Nowadays, that's changed....all kinds of feature-filled synths on the market now and many of them sound very good to me.

Hi ATS :). Hey...aren't you a member of Acid Planet by any chance and didn't you do some preset work on Firebird back when it first came out? If so, then I definitely remember you as someone who left a review on one of my old tunes a few years back and it was your praise of Firebird that made me buy the synth.

As for the pricing... that's interesting you say that because I was told by my mentor behind the scenes, who has been in the sound design business for many years, that I should have priced these banks much higher because he felt that by pricing them the way I did, many people not familiar with my work might have gotten a "cheap" first impression and simply passed on the offer.
My reasoning for doing it this way was that so many people paid only $15 for the synth itself, so I wanted to make something just as affordable and introduce as many people as I could to my work...building trust and showing new buyers that I have every intention of providing quality work. I had no idea at all about the possibility that pricing something too low might drive away as many buyers as I had gained....still learning the ropes on the business end lol :).
