Bloody kids. Wham! Music Maker, Cheetah Drum Machine + Sampler + Midi Interface - all on the humble Sinclair Spectrum.

And our 4 track was a Vestafire - not a brand of freeze dried curry, but just as rubbish

Best of Luck,
Mouxbar

Speking of freezing, they haven't delivered my wood, yet, and I only have enough for three or four hours at best...
Anyway, I'll look into this function when time permits, seems worthy of it.
AS to "analog" bouncing, I used to do it with two tape decks, by the time the track reached the fifth bounce, the whole thing had turned into a new type of involuntary synthesis, as the sounds were almost irrecognizable... :hihi:

But I bet the hiss sounded beautiful 8)

Post

Yeah, done the serial tape to tape method myself ..... its not the hiss that stands out, its the loss of tone on the sounds recorded earliest! ... I still have those tapes. The drums sound like lumps of dough being dropped on a carpet! :hihi:

Hey! nice to see another OSC ... I have to say sorry for not voting on the last one... life caught up to me :(

I do look forward to competing in this one as Flex n stein is GREAT!
Oh yeah! the prizes.... :shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:
:o :o :o :o :o :-o :-o :-o :-o

Exactly! Especially if, as was my case, the drums are actually spoons banged on a fake-leather couch cushion :hihi:

Hi Abstractcats! :)

I did it with this little beastie in the late 80's, NO dolby, mono ! NO Quality !
Amazing ! My first studio equipment. :D
And yes, after a few takes it sounded like tatiemannies stuff, but I loved the hiss also :hihi:

P.S. I still have it

Post

No worries abstractcats ... there is actually more to life than One-Synth-Challenge .... though sometimes I wonder :hihi: ... good to hear from you ... and all the best with your track(s) :)

Shit! ... Yeager, I had that exact same machine! :o :o .... I bought it, along with some other pieces of gear, with a grant I got on behalf of Aberdeen Community Arts Assoc ( of which I was very much a part ) ... from the 'Outlandos Trust' ... set up by The Police. The letter accompanying the cheque was from Mary Hopkins ... yeah, those were the days indeed! ... Unfortunately it was stolen before I got a lot done with it ... along with the recordings I was working on ( tape left in the machine ) :(

Post

You guys still have any of those recordings? ..we could upload some for a laugh?!?

Post

Some of the things I still have would go way beyond laughter... :?

Spooky, me and my brother were lent one of these longterm as well - and did exactly the same tape bouncing with our beloved Casio CZ101.

I'm beginning to worry about the company we're keeping

Alas, (and probably a good thing) no results remain :hihi:

Best of luck,
Mouxbar

My track is up! :D
For some reason it's volume is rather low when uploaded to 4shared. i honestly don't know why 'cause the original isn't like that.
So turn it up when playing "Flex-N-Stains"

Post

Cool K-Bee :tu: ... cheers for the submission!

... I think it is usually the case that the playback on 4shared is quieter ... you might want to compare with the other tracks .... or maybe with one of your own previous tracks in the previous comps archive (click the 4shared link in my sig and download the OSC links textfile) ... Gimme a shout if you need to re-up :)

I'm off to do a gig in Edinburgh in about 5 mins, so I'll catch you all tomorrow. All the best. :)
