Will it stain? Can we see pictures?

Anyway, 267! I hope we reach 300 this weekend!

Well I accidently signed up twice after the GB had hit over 200. Squids, I PM'd you about this as I wasn't sure who to alert this to. Maybe you can credit my eSoundz account or something. Looking forward to hitting 300 and higher.

I've gotta admit, I'm starting to feel a little spammed at this point too.

It's one thing to have the link for the group buy on every page. That can be convenient for anyone who doesn't understand the concept of going back to the first page and clicking on the link.

But to be reminded of the referral thread on every page, and the number of people who have joined the Group Buy every second or third post is a little over the top. :uhuhuh:

Shhhhhhh.... Don't tell them but I'm with you on this one. Even though it's for a good cause. They might... think we are evil. :-)

Yay for this group buy anyway. :)

So you would prefer the word "bump"? Because that's what it is.

And so we (me, bronxsound, and mountainking) are "spam"? Well, I'd be open to suggestions to how to keep the GB before people without these "bumps." I'm more than open to bumping threads with meaningful dialog. It's okay by me if you want to show us how to do it. We'd like the help.

I do think it helps to have the GB info at the top of the page. Some people don't want to go back and look at the first post. So we go overboard. What's the problem?

I don't where the sincerity emoticon is, but I'd be happy for you two to take over. Be my guest. My only interest is 300... then 400... then however high we can go. And the only way to do that (that I know of) is to bump threads. People have to see it before they will join.

You want that too, don't you? I hope so. Do you want to take over bumping the threads? I'm fine with that too.

Post

I would like to thank Reverend, Bronxsound, chester, mountainking and others for their efforts to help the rest of us pay less or get extra goodies.

Judging by the same recurring questions that pop up here, it's good idea to keep things the way they are. Let Squids work on getting the product to market instead answering the same questions every other page.

That's the first time I've ever seen Rev even closed to ticked!

Rev has a point though. It is keeping the thread alive. But at the same time I agree it would be more interesting and worth "checking back" if there's some juicy convo at least on every page. Some people this set to send a reminder when a post has been made (maybe not such a good idea!). So I could imagine they go looking and see "if you want to refer someone just..." and go "AAAAAA!!!!!!". Maybe they thought it was going to be a post from me saying something like "You're out of your element! - the next person who can name the movie gets..." - that's worth checking in on. ;) Or more likely some info about the Group Buy that means something like new extras or an explanation, a question asked or answered that they wanted to know etc.

But, the friendly bumps are something everyone should appreciate as they too still do help the group buy. A compromise would be to keep the Bronxsound top of the page posts - I think that is genius for a GB thread this long. Starts with a summary. VERY useful. Maybe pop in with the reminder about the referral thread every couple of pages but not every page (even though we applaud you Mountain King for helping out with that) and... well, I do think the updates with the latest number are appreciated as well as it is new news... and serves as a good bump. The rest can be some good discussion stuff... heck I can even tell drum stories like I used to in the good ol' days. ;) I'll try to help bump the thread with interesting stuff... I have to admit I got kind of mellowed out for a sec there from being Squid-slapped over at the Vdrum forum by the mods there. They don't like-a-my-yackin'. Them's usin' hurtin' words and threatening to delete a good FAT thread (with 4,000+ views). So I am tippy toeing around over there so I don't get SMACKED in the V. But I should know I don't have to do that here... so the Squids'll come out... name dropping, strange humor, esoteric behind the scenes trivia - the whole 9 yards! You asked for it you got it. Squids Mega Posts.

But first I have to go play this Floyd Tribute thing I'm doing tonight. I do it on the side for fun. It's a local gig. Next month I'm doing some gigs with Simon Collins though and doing some of my original music which will be fun... and maybe a few Genesis covers which will also be fun. It's good to play music live you know? Gotta keep up the chops and interact with some other musicians once in a while. Woops better go! Play nice!

In any case, don't forget that it is because of people like Reverend Rhythm, Bronxsound, Chester and Mountain King that these group buys go even further so a BIG BIG thank you to you guys! Really. Your enthusiasm and willingness to push these group buys is crucial to their success and everyone benefits. THANK YOU!

i have found myself in a situation of looking for somewhere else to live...it is highly likely that i will find a shared flat with broadband but if not i'm worried i'm never gonna be able to d'load this kind of capacity

Post

I can still recall other group buys where people were forever asking "so where are we at?", "where do I sign up?" and even "who can I refer for the e-pointz"..bronxsound, reverend and mountainking are actually doing everyone a favour, not only by bumoping the thread, but saving you from getting a new post reminder with an "i'm too f'ing lazy to find out for myself"-style message.
I'd rather read the same old thing than the same old thing :D

For my own part I've been trying to throw the 'external links' in every 5 pages or so, since they are less immediately relevant than the other stuff.

ps: I appreciate the shout-out, muddyjoe 8)
