Ok, thanks for the update :tu: So, we don't need to upgrade anything (if we already own Infinite Player 1) for the kits in this group buy to work? Does that include the Ocean Way kits? Have they been converted over to the IP format yet? Do we need to upgrade to Kontakt Player 4 (I still have 3) to support these new kits? And one more...if we already own multi-track versions of several kits in this GB should we still download these stereo (ST) kits? I can't exactly keep straight which ones I already own because they are named a little differently here. Ahhh, not a big deal really, just trying to understand how this all pieces together and I'm easily confused

Thanks Squids :)
Rich

Edit: Do these kits have presets for mix-ready sounds that include EQ, compression, room sounds (for dry kits), etc in Kotakt? That helps folks like me (songwriters) who don't always want to tinker with all manner of settings. It's nice to have something ready to go :D
So, we don't need to upgrade anything (if we already own Infinite Player 1) for the kits in this group buy to work?

You WILL need to use Kontakt 3.5 or higher to use these kits. The original Infinite Player came with Kontakt 2 which won't work the new one. We'll supply a free download of Kontakt Player 3.5 but you can also get it right now from NI for free. I think you can do it through service center but if not then you can search the site for "Kontakt Player FREE". You can alternatively use Kontakt 4 as well but just know it drops Mac PPC support and is newer so could have bugs. KP3.5 is fine.

Does that include the Ocean Way kits?

I'm sorry, I think there's some confusion. You WILL have to download all the kits of THIS group buy. I thought you were talking about updated patches for Drum Masters kits you got from a previous group buy or other regular purchases. So, yes you would have to download these Ocean Way kits (even if you own ALL of OWD for the OWDExp Player before - these are different as they are specially encoded for the Infinite Player).

Have they been converted over to the IP format yet?

They have been encoded by NI but we're waiting to receive it back from them and then we have to apply the new scripts to it and tweak it for each of the maps so that will take about a week.

Do we need to upgrade to Kontakt Player 4 (I still have 3) to support these new kits?

No. But you need to have at least KP3.5 (or full Kontakt 3.5). Anything earlier than that won't read them.

And one more...if we already own multi-track versions of several kits in this GB should we still download these stereo (ST) kits?

Yes. These aren't the same as the previous stereo kits in Drum Masters. These are stereo kit pieces with a quasi-multitrack control. A few posts up DarkStar did a great job compiling some info (thanks!) that I had posted about it. Previously the stereo kits just came out of one stereo fader and that's it. Now they each come out of their own fader for mixing between the kit pieces (more kick, less snare etc.) but besides that we have introduced room mixing by bring in convolution impulses from the various studios these drums were all recorded in and more so you can mix and match ambience to the dry and medium kits. Anyway, these stereo/quasi-multi kits are also programmed differently than the multitrack kits. They are their own animal now. Good to have both!

Do these kits have presets for mix-ready sounds that include EQ, compression, room sounds (for dry kits), etc in Kontakt?

Yes and the beauty is you also have the raw unprocessed sound too so you can alternatively run it through your own T-RackS 3, UAD or whatever else you've got. Best of both worlds in this now!

That helps folks like me (songwriters) who don't always want to tinker with all manner of settings. It's nice to have something ready to go

If that is what you want then I think you're going to like the Drum Masters 2 series a lot.

Combining that coupon with GCenters regular 10-15% off sales yields an awesome chunk off one of these packages.....If we're locked into using just from the sonicreality website, I guess that wouldn't work.
Well, first of all, the coupons are only to be applied for full versions of Drum Masters 2 products (just coming out so no other stores even have them yet - and we don't even have them yet but will soon) or full versions of Ocean Way Drums which out of the 200ish stores Guitar Center has only certain ones have it in stock so it is a special order item. Sweetwater is different in that they do usually have our high end stuff on hand. I'd have to coordinate something with them which would be easier to do than chain stores where that stuff has to be done way in advance so it is in the buyer's guides and all of that... to be honest, it's difficult to coordinate upgrade coupons with another dealer. They sell so many things, not just one manufacturer's stuff (and we're not Roland or Yamaha or Digidesign!) So to ask them to know how to handle redeeming a coupon for this and that... it can be a bit much to ask. That's why we do it on www.esoundz.com where we can give you a digital coupon that our system reads and automatically applies the discount. A lot of custom work has been done to be able to offer things like that digitally. Believe me I would LOVE to coordinate that kind of stuff with one of our dealers. The technical and political hurdles are different though. While esoundz can COMPLETELY cater to the selling of Sonic Reality and other select brands. Other dealers who carry hundreds of company's products aren't likely to do that.

That said, there can be other promotions we do with dealers that do work with their own systems. We're always game for that. Buy an MBox and get X off of Drum Masters 2... some kind of point of purchase thing or a bundle with something else they sell. That is more likely than digital coupons and group buys. We do that once in a while to stir things up. Get some attention to what we're doing and it is good timing to do so with the holidays and a major update with new features. We hope to introduce a lot of new users to this and get them off the ground into the world of the Infinite Player and what cool things there are now and coming this year to add to it simply once you have it. There will be plenty of things you can buy from your favorite store that are Infinite Player-related after this is over.

Cool, thanks man!

8) great to hear there will be mix ready kits available, that's very useful to me , I don't really know where to start with mixing drums but I find I learn well from reverse engineering presets.
Will there be a user area or somthing like that where we can share our own presets? Playing with the demo player it looks very powerful I imagine all sorts of sonic mayhem will ensue with the effects :D
Nobody's a nobody...

I'm afraid I'm a little confused on the relationship betweem Infinite Player, and Kontakt Player. I have Kontakt Player 3.5. Does Infinite player open in KP, or vice versa, or neither? Thanks, I'm already a group buy member btw.

The installation and serial authorization for the Infinite Player puts a "library" inside Kontakt Player and allows it to read the sounds done for that product or product line (in our case product LINE because there are many different products designed to work with the Infinite Player library within Kontakt... whereas other companies often have just ONE product that works within a library in Kontakt - or a separate library per product like you see with Vir2 and most others).

Have a look here. You can see that when you install the Infinite Player it puts a library image on the left inside your Kontakt Player:

If you don't authorize the Infinite Player with NI's service center then the sounds either won't load or load in demo mode which time out. Once the serial is authorized though you can not only use the sounds you have now but you can buy MORE Infinite Player sound collections or a la carte downloads and add them in simply by dragging and dropping into our "infinite player library installer" which puts all the sounds into their proper place (multis, instruments, graphics and samples).

Does that help? It is kind of like a plug-in within a plug-in. The engine itself is still Kontakt and you can use the Player version or the FULL version of Kontakt and it works just fine as long as you've authorized the Infinite Player which is like the "unlock" to Sonic Reality's world of high end virtual instrument sounds.

I have to giggle at the idea that it would be undesirable to be "locked in" to using the discount coupon from the Sonic Reality website. These are Sonic Reality products. Why shouldn't we be expected to use the coupon with them directly? They are already taking a $100 cut in the price to honor the discount, and if they were to allow Guitar Center or another reseller to accept the discount coupon, they would be taking an additional 30-50% cut (or more) for the part of the sale that remains in the hands of the reseller.

Whenever possible, I think it is always best to try to give the sale directly to the creator of these great products to maximize the return on their investment developing it.

And futhermore eSoundz (Sonic Reality) pretty much always has the lowest prices you can find on stuff they sell already... their own products and third party products. Most products are usually selling for at least 15% off the regular list price all year round... so why would you even hesitate to give them the business directly? I would honestly choose them first if they carry the product I am looking for.

They also have a splendid, web site with an efficient delivery system and download server. And perhaps most importantly, they offer some of the best customer service in the industry. And truly I mean that. This is a company that sees the importance of making sure their users are happy, and have built up a huge following of loyal customers.

I'm just saying. :-)

I'll second that. Most of the time I get better service from eSoundz than from my girlfriend... :hihi:

Sure. But on an irregular and highly subjective basis.

p.s.: If I behave well I can get into this GB  that's the system.

This is also true of other products for sale on esoundz.com. I've gotten the BEST deals on IK Multimedia's products, buying them all on esoundz. Not to mention...the more you spend there the better the deals get because your membership increases. This is smart on their end because as a "Platinum" member I can assure you they get PLENTY of my money ;) :hihi:

Yes, customer service is very good :)

That DOES help Squids! Detailed explanations go a long way and visual demonstrations (aka videos) help even more ;) :D

Infinite Player is a bit easier than it appears to be (though, still complex) but there are a few hurdles to jump before it finally settles in. That may require a little extra tlc when it comes to explaining and re-explaining what this is to new folks :)

I can't say it enough...get those videos done BEFORE you start the group buy and I think you'll get even better results! I bet there are several people who just get too confused about what everything is (and isn't). That's just my opinion though...what do I know? I'm no marketing expert

Btw, your excellent videos on Sample Tank are TOTALLY what sold me on buying it. Case in point!
