All will be revealed when the time is right. Just a sneak peek and something to look forward to.

Sometimes it is important which studio it is but also sometimes it is just as important who is recording it, what mics and consoles are actually being used, what techniques used to sample it and other factors. That's why it is good to talk to and/or work with (when possible) those who were there back in the day... at least when it comes to authentic vintage sounds. But, again, this area of retro pianos is for a discussion later. Remember we really mean it when we say we sample everything! ;)

Squids wrote:We're doing some unbelievable pianos for Infinite Player. I've got a few pianos Ken Scott helped us record using techniques he used with The Beatles, Elton John and Supertramp! Sadly the Beckstein at Trident studios is no longer around though. But we recorded Steinways and all sorts of others. Plus now we have a Rhodes MK5 which sounds great (needs a little work before we sample it) and of course you saw the Baldwin Electric Harpsichord which I sampled years ago and LOST the samples!!!! So this is justice... I love that thing.

Anyway, Infinite Player is for more than just drums. It IS for collection virtual reality instruments. Ideal for having a hard drive next to you while your Rhodes is in the closet (even though I recommend dusting off the Rhodes and running it through a Small Stone for the magical swirly grit factor if you get a chance).
Man that is great I am looking now for a piano (plus the Squids Tron, and Squids Rare Vol...).
When will this Inifite piano stuff be available? (p.s. I could use a 9 foot Baldwin) :hihi:

We're past 300 and it's only been two weeks with two weeks left. I think there's a good chance! I'm still working on what the 400 mark extras are going to be. It will be something good of course. For now it is a mystery until it is revealed either tomorrow or the next day. Probably additional sound content but possibly midi grooves as well. More news on that coming!

Ok great! Then i vote for kit 11. I love that one. Especially the dry kit. :D Ooops! 10 GB for kit 11. I bet that's not gonna happened... Well, we get so much so what ever you throw in there I'll be happy. Truth is i like all these kits. Some more than others maybe but it's all good overall. I've been enjoying listening to these drums a lot these last few days BTW.

Also, I've been meaning to ask, if i buy lets say ...kit 11 :D, can i use it in the infinite player? Sorry if this was asked before  . Man you're so patient i don't know how you do it...

Cheers!
What ever!

Let's wake this thread! It hasn't moved in 5 hours! And we've only added 1 more person!
Wake up! :D :hihi:

We're at 306 right now, but I'm thinking that 500 is a goal we could look for. This is a great buy that keeps getting better. So lets move this along!

I vote for MIDI grooves. :) As many as possible would be greatly welcome. They will be useful 'til my fingerdrumming is up to par, but DEFINITELY after that as well.

Congrats to everyone on hitting 300!! I'm pretty pumped about having EZPlayer, thanks for adding that in, Squids !
If we're voting on 400 I think it should include roto-toms

I don't think my finger drumming will ever be up to the level of Squids. My brain doesn't seem to work that way. But I still think imap is an interesting and useful concept, and I want to get better at it.

Oh, my finger drumming will not get as good as squids either, i know that. But i will definitely try some fingerdrumming. The imap is the reason why i will buy a larger keyboard. I was thinking a "normal" 49key, but will go for a 61 instead. 88 will be too expensive, if i want some knobs and faders on it too. My crappy CME will not work when i upgrade to win7, so it's new keys regardless.

I'd suggest you announce the sales goals a bit earlier. Maybe even the next two steps (like for now 400 and 500). I know you don't want people to be disappointed if targets are not reached but there will be one last goal that will anyway not be reached and a promise of a good bonus might help people with their decision to join in the group buy:)
From promotional aspect, I'd announce bonuses sooner.

For me it doesn't matter as I will join anyway, haven't purchased yet but will in the next days. Also convinced a band colleague... I'm sure we're not the only ones who are decided but still in the pipeline.

Btw, I just made my ePointz account so if anyone likes to hand me my first points, my username is same as the one here: surphaze

From GS forum: Good to know there will be a discounted path to EpiK DrumS then. *Any idea of the "amount" of the expected discount for group buy members?

If I like what I have with the GB, I (and I'm sure I'm not the only one seeing that GB as a nice and cheap way for us to get a very sweet piece of the real products' pie... I'm even sure that its also one of the idea for you guys behind the group buy, and it does make a lot of sense) may definitely end up wanting more; and I feel that EpiK should suit me a little more than DM2 Full or OWD. I like the philosophy behind the product (and d*mn, I like to see those old Trident desks at use...), and it may just fill an empty spot on the market. I also like the fact that you are standing by your choices (Kontakt, and what appears to be an upgraded, taylor made player inside Kontakt), since it gives us users a bit more security with regards to future.

That's a good point about the security of the platform. I usually focus on the fact that it is open ended, able to customized by third parties like us and able to be expanded beyond just say drums... for instance we have an amazing percussion collection that will be announced soon that goes nicely with these drum collections as well (plus pianos, strings etc.). Where you may sacrifice in dedicated instrument graphics you gain in many other areas. Plus, one thing I like about something like Kontakt is it is already at version 3.5 and 4 from a company that has been doing this successfully for a while. They have way more than just drum customers who have high expectations to fill so that overall high standard of quality to accommodate everything from orchestral instruments to massive sized pianos to mega drum kits. So as a sound developer that's all a plus to be able to rely on. Is NI and Kontakt perfect? Ummm, no. But Kontakt is undeniably great for a lot of things, sounds fantastic and full of useful features... hence its success and popularity with third party sound developers. [Boy they owe me for that endorsement! haha]

All that said, I'm really not opposed to doing dedicated drum software libraries either. I'd do it all if we had enough time and resources. We're doing our Neil Peart kit in BFD2 as a test (and if one of the biggest and fantastic sounding kits from one of the most popular drummers in the world isn't a big seller in that platform then that will be that). I'm a big fan of the layout of products like EZD and Superior as well. I happen to like AD too although I don't know those guys as well as I know the owners of Toontrack and FXpansion. But, first they'd have to really want us to develop in that platform and ask... only FXpansion has expressed the interest so we're doing that first. Other formats... maybe. But one format we are committed to because we do sample much more than just drums is Kontakt and this Infinite Player expandable library system we're doing within it. If we do the same kit in other formats you like too we'll do inexpensive cross-grades so you can have both.

Speaking of cross-grades, I think the coupon for EpiK DrumS which will be time limited (all of them will expire at the end of January) is going to be $50 off. Not bad! $50 off here, $100 off there... if one scrapes up enough they could get a one time "break" on all of our drum stuff just from joining the group buy... it'd even make sense to buy the group buy even if you were never going to use it - if you were simply to use the coupon codes for discounts on the other stuff... in other words, if someone was even thinking about getting EpiK DrumS, Drum Masters 2 or DM 2 Platinum, Ocean Way Drums Silver, Gold or Platinum... then it's actually better to get this Group Buy bundle first and then use the coupons on them... whether you want the group buy product itself or not (even though why wouldn't you? It's great and has unique material not on the other stuff anyway but still... I think you get what I'm saying).

So all of the $99 coupons expire end of January 2010?
