Ok thanks to JL's prompt and thorough job with the doco & testing AATranslator v2.2 is now available (don't all rush at once).
We managed to get a pretty good translation of most OMF dialects as well as the OpenTL format.
We had a lot of problems converting Avid Media Composer Omfs and we intend to try and rectify that in a later version but there is a warning to that effect when an Avid omf is detected. This was mainly due to the 'different' way in which they work internally plus we were unable to get enough Avid omfs for testing.
Anyway its there and after a few bourbons (or some Irish Whiskey) its back into it for the next version.
As always before parting with your hard earned cash test this application for its suitabilty to cater for your translation needs

Just a query on Studio One support. Is Presonus Capture format what you are intending as an intermediary for Studio One users? Studio One imports OMF files exported from Cubase4/5 and Nuendo.

The native format for Capture, .Capture is pretty basic, though fine for the intended purpose. And yes just as PreSonus have it as an import format for Studio 1, so do we, to input to AATranslator. (AATranslator exports too, so you can track on huge number of other DAW's then convert to .capture format to mix in Studio One)egbert wrote:Just a query on Studio One support. If you need more than the right bit of audio on the right track, say markers/cues, fades, volume & pan info, Open TL would be a better choice as a export format from AATranslator into Studio One.
Really, you sure? Last time I looked it could only import Open TL & .capture.Studio One imports OMF files exported from Cubase4/5 and Nuendo.

Not quite sure if this answers your question.
I have had some discussions with Presonus regarding access to their Studio One session format but as I recall they indicated that the format was quite complex and still evolving so they suggested I look at the Capture format which I did.
However, Studio One also reads Steinberg Track Archives as well as OpenTL both of which are provided by AATranslator.
We have a number of competing priorities and pressure on us to support numerous formats, however, it is our intention to see if we can provide an export to OMF function.
Hey JL - opposite sides of the globe and answering the same post at exactly the same time - go figure
Edit:Yes your are correct JL Studio One doesn't import OMF

No problemegbert wrote:Oops! Sorry. The files you export from C 4/5 are XMLs (presumably the track archives) and they are imported successfully by Studio One.
This stuff is confusing enough for us and we play in this sandpit every day

It would be of great assistance if a couple of people could send say 2 or 3 PT5 session files so that we can expand beyond our own testing capability.
We don't need any audio just the pt5 session file.
Just send them via the web site www.aatranslator.com.au
thanks
No tracktion support
Could really use it to transition to a new daw.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that Tracktion's only 'export' is a proprietry 'track archive' and there appears to be only the same for import.
If you want to create a small test track archive and email it to me via the AATranslator web site I'll certainly have a look at it - however, no promises.

As an aside our next version will not only include FCP xml import/export capability but also the ability to read Presonus 'capture' xmls (we currently export to that format). While these capture xmls are reasonably limited Studio One will export to this format. So it will at least provide a mechanism (if required) to convert from Studio One (and Capture) to other formats.egbert wrote:Oops! Sorry. you don't need to export/archive to a singular file, you can just archive the project into a separate directory - then all the .trkedit files are just XML.
You don't even need to export the project, it's usable from the project directory.
All that exporting in tracktion does is pull in the audio clips that aren't in the project directory and make them local, and chuck it in a different directory.
Happy to send you something if you can't save something out of the tracktion demo (I think you can last time i looked?).
Happy new year!

We are currently adding Apple FCP/Logic XML support to the 12+ formats we do already.

Just to let you know that as well as Apple FCP etc our next version of AATranslator will allow you to create AA1.5 session files. Which means you can convert from AA3, AA2, Reaper, Samplitude, PRoTools, Sonar, FCP, Cubase, Nuendo, Vegas, Logic, etc, etc to AA1.5.
Handy for ProConvert owners as well

We are about 48 hours away from our next release.
We have made significant improvements and enhancements to all existing formats and have also added a number of additional formats.
We have already started working on the following release with some successful preliminary work on creating omf files from AATranslator.
[edit] Release held up for about 24 hours while we hurriedly cater for OMF files from Paris (the daw not the town in NSW or the city in France).

Not holding out much hope but does this translator have the ability of translating Logic 5.5 for PC files? I built a new system last year and now use Studio One but I have years worth of songs in Logic for PC that do not come over well at all when saved as SMFs then opened in S1.
Even I was offended by what I was going to put here.
