Squids,
thanks, that confirms a few things again ! :)
So the GK amp is correct, nice !
And, even better, now I finally know what the open stomp box in pic 9 is - the Univibe !
Again, this little help is much appreciated since your model differs a bit from many photos - the power switch on yours is not in line with the connectors in the bottom row - apparently those were the days of precision manufacturing.
My tech almost got a heart attack when I showed him the pic :-o , he didn't recognize it but mumbled something like "good that these gizmos are so rare" and something about "electrocution".
Now for that white mystery cab, Acoustic or not ?
That's the last unsolved pic right now, not

That pic is even a few years old and before IK did AT Fender. So... since then I think it could be almost twice that which is like a freakin' museum. We should talk because the SR studio is like that for keyboards and vintage instruments... but not amps unfortunately. Across the pond there's pure heaven. But then again that is why accurate models are so nice because... besides not getting electrocuted (funny) you don't have to upkeep them all. I just paid yet ANOTHER $150 to fix my Vox AC30 which blew during a session last month. Sounded great though but... argggh! With AmpliTube you don't have to carry it, you don't have to fix it, you can crank it up without bothering anyone and you can have a virtual amp collection bigger than the picture I just posted! If you think about that it is totally amazing!

I got nothing useful to say or add just making sure im upto date with this one as im obviously keen

Maybe this IS for keyboards afterall? Or is it? :o
Why would anyone use a Leslie on a keyboard? Everyone knows they sound better on guitars than organs.
That's debateable, but I can play guitar one HELUVA lot better than organ! (and yet I still suck)
Is that why people are always saying you suck at the organ?

P fn' U! That one was toxic
I'm sorry! I couldn't help it. I actually stole it from an old joke. "Liberace was great on the piano but sucked on the organ"

Agreed, that's one of the nice things about that whole sim thing. Still the real thing is where it's at, like probably most of us would agree, but who can afford such a big collection of hardware in the real world ?
That said, 2009 was a great step forward for ampsim technology, and it looks like 2010 is off to a good start !
Re your Vox, some of my friends have had good experience fitting a new backplate with a small 80mm PC fan (you obviously wouldn't want to cut up a vintage one). It only adresses half of the problem, there's not much you can do about the high plate voltage and continuous stress due to ClassA, but hey, every little thing helps.
It's not much work either and there's no modification to any vintage part...

Hey, new stuff !
An AKG 414, the first real shot of the JC-120 and ---- ----- ----- another pic of the mystery cab. :tu:
Looks like hibidy knows his Acoustics ... :hihi:
I'll have to google the guts of that 360 cab tomorrow to be 100% sure, but the plot thickens.
Apparently John Paul Jones played these monsters, so it might actually be nice.
Never saw one in person, but the guitar amps were rather good, at least the 164/165 models.
Cheers,

Wow, Squids, even I find that pic amazing and I've seen it before plus I work there. Well not THERE or I might just keel over from gearlust overload! What a great place, and excellent that we've got all the gear that is modeled. I love to see the humans - there's the one with them at the computers - but even better is that their hands are on that gear. And yeah I'm totally jealous. I need to find the "free plane ticket to Italy" contest, since I'm not eligible for THIS one.

Update:
A few more mics, Sennheiser MD421, GT Velo8 Ribbon, Shure SM57 and what looks like another Neumann large diaphragm condenser, U87, 67, or similar.
Keep them coming, folks ...
The mystery cab is an Acoustic 301/361 indeed, like hibidy suggested.
A folded horn :-o with a single 18" speaker, probably not the obvious choice for your next bar gig ...
Cheers,
susiwong

Indeed he did do but not exclusively and well im not sure exactly which amp he used on 'Dazed And Confused' BUT if it were the old Acoustics (black with a blue stripe IIRC!) then well i know none of us are JPJ! But if i could get in the ball park of the Dazed & Confused bass tone/sound then i would be extremely happy and yeah 09 has seen alot of progress regarding amp modelling (IMO only a fool would argue otherwise. The freeware has been extremely usable and combine that with the bigger players in the DSP amp sim world and it is great for us all as the bar is raised...etc.) = One happy Nekro/Dean FWIW. And speaking of the Acoustic bass rigs of old well i think they have recently just reissued them (sorry if someone has pointed this out already as with the two kids keepin' me on ma toes i do not get chance to read through things like i would like). Plus if their are new bass models going then well you can bet that im going to be putting a guitar through them ;)

Here is the reissues of them AFAIK:

Looking forward to what is coming so far and again it can only get better :tu:

All the best to everyone and take care :)

Ha Ha but it fits in sort of with my love of Sunn Collesium rig mate ;)

Post

Dean's in the house, now we know the party's started. :) I know you were in earlier too, sorry I missed saying hi. What other kind of unique rigs do you have? Any cool mics too?

Post

Oh no i dont have a Sunn Collesium rig but the thought of a 1x18 with a 1x15 on top (no tweeters of course or it would not work for guitar!) intrigues me and i would like to try something similar one day Peter. As for mic's nothing that special really bar a Sontronics Sigma and a Sontronics Delta ribbon(s) that are awesome on cabs and don't blow the ribbon (well i haven't yet!). Also a friend had a ribbon by a company called 'ShinyBox' and well it costs £199 GBP and it sounds unreal for the price plus they do options like for extra price you can have either US Cinemag transformer or the Swedish ever dependable and great sounding Lundahl. Check out the guys website man: http://www.shinybox.com and you will probably want to get yourself one  other than that im a strict MD-421 fan and on bass guitar cabs use an Audio-Technica AE2500 which is a dual element capsule design with phase-aligned outputs so you get great attack from the condenser capsule and blooming big chunky lows out of the dynamic. That is probably my fave mic as it says alot of hassle :) When it comes to expensive and/or vintage mics i just can not afford that sort of thing as much as i would love to own very many of them of course :? Life

All the best to you Peter and take care man :tu:

Dean aka 'Nekro'

Post

Thanks, Dean. I'm with you on the 421 but I also am a bog-standard SM57 guy too sometimes. RE20 and some oddball OLD EV broadcast mics get thrown in there too from time to time.
