Squids wrote:Okay, so a few posts back I mentioned the gear at IK HQ in Italy. I found some pics and these are actually older than what's there now! But just this alone... pretty juicy! I wish had a lot of that around for my sessions here in the States. Well, at least we have some great models of it! Check it out:

By the way, you can be sure that whatever this mystery IK product is you'll be able to pre-order it when the time comes from esoundz at a great price with exclusive extras. That's a given!

That is a lot of gear!!!

Squids wrote:That pic is even a few years old and before IK did AT Fender. So... since then I think it could be almost twice that which is like a freakin' museum. We should talk because the SR studio is like that for keyboards and vintage instruments... but not amps unfortunately. Across the pond there's pure heaven. But then again that is why accurate models are so nice because... besides not getting electrocuted (funny) you don't have to upkeep them all. I just paid yet ANOTHER $150 to fix my Vox AC30 which blew during a session last month. Sounded great though but... argggh! With AmpliTube you don't have to carry it, you don't have to fix it, you can crank it up without bothering anyone and you can have a virtual amp collection bigger than the picture I just posted! If you think about that it is totally amazing!
Completely agree with that. Me and my bro over here in the UK are guitarists but he is old school and just wont except that this is the way forward. He carries around one big amp and I carry around the amplitube range! Cant wait to get the stomp IO then will make it even more versatile!

Im still with Amplitube 3. Sample tank 3 on the way too apparently!! I'm not so good with my hardware, just know what sounds good which is usually IK stuff!! Cant wait to find out what this is!

I'm sure it's Amplitube 3, but just to set expectations unreasonably high I'll add this to the mix: Amplitube 3 will now have an IKMM shell program that combines X-Gear with the T-Racks shell and adds CSR support. This way you can run all your IK effects in a single semi-modular environment that lets you drag and drop the location of effects.

I think I've suggested it in the past and it was ignored which means it has to be true.

Post

That would be awesome actually! I use T-Racks as mastering on its own sometimes, would be cool to have the CSR and amplitube stuff available sometimes as well!

I might be completely wrong, but don't the current IK shells automatically load all applicable plugins ?
That would make your suggested "IK shell" quite a resource hog I fear.
In that case I'd welcome it as an additional option but hopefully not as a replacement for X-Gear.
In fact, personally I'd be more interested in the opposite, adding X-Stomp, X-Amp and X-Cab options to facilitate routing with 3rd party components.
In the real world I'm not afraid of plugging a Fender into a Marshall cab either :-o , whatever does the job ...

You're right about the way X-Gear uses RAM and no offense to IK, but that needs to stop entirely. It may be a necessary evil for live work (fast preset switching), but it's insanely impractical for studio work.

IK should make a "live" mode that loads all resources all the time for people using Amplitube on stage (i.e. current functionality), then add a "studio" mode that only uses resources on what's being used (i.e. longer load times less RAM usage). And this is something they should be doing regardless of whatever is being talked about in this thread.

Anyway I hope I will see a pic of a Peavy 6505+ very soon in the ampgallery. :P

I know it is a lot of gear... But what if this is a new signature series?

Who would have used all of this gear?
