To me Kontakt is harder than Sonar and that's hard  I belong back in the 60's where tape was king and I was happy  Thanks again. I'll probably ask this question a bazillion more times.
Here's a guess:
-- the Infinite Player banner appears if Kontakt finds that Ip is installed and Authorized
-- no Instrument appears if the Library folder is not found (or has not been added to Kontakt)

Do you need to add the folder path to the path list in [Options] >> Search/DB ?
And, possibly, rebuild the Database (in the Kontakt Browser, Database tab)

363 enrollees, so far.
I got it go in Sonar but when I load a NDV groove, the player tells me "out of memory" so I bump it up to max 240mb and still no cigar. However I load Classic Rock (60mb) it works. the NDV is only 160 mb. i don't maybe I'm loading it twice?? I'll check that out....

So then I get a message "unauthorized" and shuts me down. I look in the Service Center and I see the green light for both players Kontakt 2 & 4 say activated. Go figure maybe the DM1 don't work with K4? I find that hard to handle... :x I use Drumcore and it's cake. If I could control the outputs I'd use that but after of years of at least 3-4 tracked the very minimum for drums, 2 tracks can't cut it for masters...demos or soundtracks, they work just fine but for commercial music it's obvious... this is why I bought the last DM GB and this for for DM2 and OWD for control, Now the only control I have is my temper  I'm a old fart that just doesn't get it, sorry to be negative but I can't tell you how many hours I've spent to get a frigging drum track and got tidily squids, :) Sorry Squids I couldn't pass up that line, I do have some humor left... that's how I kept my sanity. But I would like to get a drum track down sometime in the near future...

This is like the 5th time I uninstalled everything and reinstalled Kontakt player and Infinite Library and still I can't do jack s*it! This has got to be the worst app I've ever seen. I'm at the point where I'd take a dollar for Monster DM GB and a dollar for the DM2/OWD GB. I'm just not smart enough for this high tech crap. I want to make music no be a frigging rocket scientist. I still have my Roland VS2480 at least it works. I got the old Discrete Drums multi track drums, The reason I went to a PC is that you can't play with tempos on the Discrete drums.

I've read all the posts and the info and the light just doesn't turn on here. I know it's good otherwise Squids wouldn't use it. For me SampleTank is a breeze...no thought required. Too bad! I also have Reason and Record but that's not easy to learn either. For my money Sony Acid and Vegas are real easy. Up and running without thinking. I know I can't be the only idiot out there. I raise the white flag. Life's too damn short to be stuck in Geek Land. I even have a Zoom R4 so back to that and my guitar and harmonica..Hey Mr.Computer man, play a song for me. It's not easy and there is no sound I'm hearing here, Hey Mr......

Sorry you're having a bad experience Bob. It really is not supposed to be so difficult. I suggest you call eSoundz tomorrow and someone will surely help you get things sorted out. They are very helpful, and will probably be determined to make sure you are set up and your experience becomes positive.

I also love SampleTank and was a little overwhelmed with Kontakt and annoyed by a few things. But you know... after becoming familiar with Kontakt, it is actually almost as easy to use. There is just a lot of things going on in that sampler and you have tonnes of control under the hood, so there is a hell of a lot more parameters and knobs that can be shown or hidden. Once you figure out the basics, it will become easy as pie.

I'm a Mac guy so I can't help you with the PC stuff, but for the time being, I would prepare a simple outline (in point form) of what you have installed, and what your issues are, so that tech support can easily follow what is happening (or not happening) and get you up and running. :-)

Thanks Zedd, I know it'll pass and it did pretty much. I was pissed at the moment and blew off some steam to get it out of my system and recorded some guitar tracks which is what I do. I know Kontakt is good, I'm just missing something. For some reason I draw a blank with it. I highly appreciate the support you've given me along with Squids,ReverendRhythm and DarkStar. You guys have been very helpful to me. I'll get through it and laugh at myself but hey... you don't learn if you don't dive right in. I do through wish there was better way than DAW's. Computers are sooo unreliable for the most part. I get too many program conflicts. Take Sonar for instance, for some reason T-Racks shuts me down but the other IK stuff all runs run and then I hear so and so say "X" product crashes on them but it works perfect with me, go figure? I swear there are gremlins in computers just to make your life more miserable like.....well I'll let you choose that one. The last thing I need is some group saying I'm a.....! It's almost midnight and snowing like a banshee up here Northern New Jersey. My studio is in my back yard on top of a mountain so I have to bundle up to walk 50 feet. Hope I don't have to shovel. I left it back at the house...snowed in the studio? hope not cause I've been here all day and I am starving. wish I had some of Squids gumbo to warm my bones...

That sounds like a pretty cool spot for a studio!
Probably a place of good inspiration, I would imagine. :-)

As for computers... I know what you mean. Sometimes there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to why the obstacles pop up and why something works for one person and not for another. I have had my share of major issues, and I tend to believe that it is likely that these are deliberate lessons we are supposed to learn from having these hardships. Not sure whether it's true or not, but the only thing we can really do is to try to roll with the punches and trust that things will work themselves out eventually.

Wow. Hang on to your hat Bob! First of all, yes there are many many thousands of Kontakt Player users who use it just fine and the program is great. Sometimes there are issues with software and computer system - it can happen to anybody with any set up. If you have a problem you can't figure out it is best to get tech support help. In this case it could be from Allen (obviously during the business week so talk to him on Monday) or you may need tech support help from NI who make Kontakt. Patience is required but it's worth it.

Also, sometimes things get more messed up by installing, uninstalling, installing, uninstalling. But nothing that can't be fixed I'm sure.

By the way, you do need at least 2 gigs of ram and there can't be too many other things using your ram at the same time either so beware of that. I am not the ideal troubleshooter though so please talk to Allen.

Did you ever have one of those days? Well yesterday was one of them for me. Nothing went right, even trying to make Christmas cards Photoshop wouldn't copy and paste for me..I was trying to make a photo by taking parts of 3 other photos and cutting out what I wanted to import. Done it a million times, but noo... Of course I did that while I was trying to put up the tree, fix the broken lights, take all the summer crap out the yard before the big snow, shut off the outside water, download some updates in the studio....So I will say patience wasn't a virtue. To tell you the truth, I really didn't think to call Allen or you guys because it was NI thing and since it was a free download, I figured I was on my own so I tried on my own to figure. The mem is not an issue as I have 4 GB on a Xeon Quad CPU. I built this baby to withstand anything and it has. I mean I've used as many as 4 IK guitar apps plus NI Guitar rig and Sample Tank, Philharmonic and only use max 75% with Sonar so that's not the problem. The hardware end I believe is fine. The zip files see all fine. 1 missing file is OK but when I see 1700 on NDV or 700 on the Gretch it shows the samples in a location other than where it belongs so I believe the file is good. But as you mention download the zip files that bring in another issue as well. It hard to pinpoint the culprit.

I moved this to this part so the the people in the GB hopefully wouldn't notice. I don't want to jeopardize anything buying this because I can't figure it out. The buy is DEFINITELY a VALUE! no doubt about it and would do it all over again in a New York minute. My experience with forums for the most part have been well "you're stupid and I'm smart" if you know what I mean... but the people hear on this forum are really great. It's an anomaly :o .

Well as soon as I shovel the snow,,us mountain people were sparred we only got about 8 inches, down the shore as we say in Jersey, they got up to 24". We lucked out for once usually it's always the other way around. Maybe that's a good omen and I'll get Kontakt working fine..like the tooth ache all weekend and when you call the Doctor on Monday morning, the tooth is fine...
Don't worry I'll fix the thing, that I'm sure of..

Thanks Zedd... The studio's small but inspirational. If it wasn't for computers I wouldn't have the space. A big 24trk and a 2 trk would overwhelm me so it's détente, I have to co exist with computers :o) Sometimes when I record acoustic guitars in the Spring, the birds can be a chirping loudly or Summer at night, the sounds of the insects can be slightly heard if you put headphones on in the very quiet passages but for the most part you don't. It adds character one person told me, he didn't mind at all and even welcomed it. I don't really use the studio for commercial purposes for mainly that reason. One will love it but another will bit your head off.. I use sound deadening for inside not soundproofing for noise. That I can make as loud as I want 24/7...no one 's ever going to complain except maybe the bear or deer

Well it's Sunday evening and I have good news... Everything is as it should be and working normally :o :D Last night the right thing to do was walk away and I thought about this for a spell. I knew I was doing something wrong and since I couldn't really retrace my steps, the best thing to do was to start from scratch. Listening and reading all the was written about the Infinite Player and KP2. I un-installed KP4 and the Infinite player and deleted the KP2 folder. I noticed in my zip files I had a version of KP3.5 so I installed that on my C drive and then installed Infinite Player 1.1 zip also on C drive. With it comes KP2 but it really doesn't matter because I knew KP3.5 would see the files if I installed IP correctly. With the IP Library installer on my desktop I put all my zip files from DM one at a time and checking the first few and there they were. I continued to put the rest of the DM zip files in the Installer and as if nothing ever happened, everything was there! My continuum was back to normal :D

First I want to apologize to everyone on this board and especially to Squids for acting childish in my outbursts..... but then again aren't artists very emotional people to begin with? :) :x  :P Seriously though, also to Zedd, ReverendRhythm, DarkStar and the others who helped me out. It would of taken me a helluva lot longer time to figure this out. OK back to playing in the studio...Thanks guys and gals...

Peace to all on this planet,

Bob

I can see how there may be times when that could be a nuisance, but I'd agree that hearing a little bird chirping or insects during some quiet passages could be kind of charming.

I am most envious that you have a studio where you can make noise at any hour of the day. I'm not sure that Squids would be getting as much of my business if I had real drum kit set up and miced. I would leave it set up all the time and just record my tracks live... and practise in the wee hours too. One day I hope to have a space where I can do just that! :-)

No worries! I'm very happy to hear that you got it all sorted out! Now you're all set to play with these new kits when we get 'em.
