tattiemannie wrote:pitch bending? Try portamento! ... set the mono to 'on' and overlap your notes in the piano roll
Yes but for a single first or last note it won't work and would anyway be tricky to automate perfectly between notes if the track is poly and portamento not used throughout.

As it is now, the pitch bend is set to an octave I believe, 2 seminotes would be nice to have, although I've made it apporoximately with some automation editing so no biggie. Just nice to play it 'live' with pitch bend is all.
tattiemannie wrote:Wow! ... couldn't help myself! ... just used the portamento to descend the pitch of the kik on the track I just got finished, and I'm really glad I didn't manage to do the final mix!!
Hm interesting, a BD pitching down is always a cool sound but how did you get it to work consistently between hits as you need a note to slide down from, no? Or did you just bounce it and copy the wave? Is that allowed? ;)

I think he is staring in the next SpiderMan movie :hihi:

V'ger, I entered the bass drum notes as normal on the piano roll, I then copied them and pasted them an octave down, and dragged them to come in just after each higher note. I adjusted the higher notes to where I wanted the initial pitch, and then adjusted the lower notes to the destination pitch. I twiddled the portamento to adjust the speed of the sweep, tweaked the note lenths, then put a little bit of release on the adsr to produce a slight 'tail'

You can do this with any sound, although poly is trickier, and will probably demand more of the cpu .... just overlap those notes where you need some bending .. and play around with the position and amount of overlap, and porta level :)

Ah yes of course, I will try that out. Generally struggling a lot with drum sounds though. Snare is near impossible to create, so any pointers welcome.. ;)

As you may have read, I have offered kick and snare presets. You will want to tweak these rather than use them as they are I'm sure, but the offer still stands .. they may be of help in creating your own sounds. PM me with an email address if you want them. I'll be off out fairly soon ... got a gig .. but I'll certainly be around tomorrow to send them. :)

Post

Well its 2.15am here, and rather than go to bed after doin a gig, I had a listen to my second track, tweaked it a little, and it sounds all the better for that descending pitch on the kik! ... cheers V'ger :)

So anyway, I've uploaded it!!

The Flexorcist - tattiemannie

Host: FL9
Sounds: 13x Flex-N-Stein 4.01
Fx: 5x mda Dynamics, 1x mda Delay, 1x Kjaerhus Classic Reverb

No automation.

So that took me a couple of days, and there's still 3 and a bit to go ... plenty time for more tracks guys! :hihi:

Really nice drum sounds there from the FNS.

Cheers V'ger ... presets sent. :)

OK, submitting that last track based on a post gig, early morning, small speakers/headphones listen was a bad idea! :(

I'll mix it properly and re-up when I get a minute .... let this be a lesson to us all! :hihi:

Post

OK, thats a better mix ... could be better still, but I'm not for fussing about it.

I also noticed I had missed out one instance of Classic reverb on the accompaying text .. this now sorted :)

Thanks. Very sporting to send those out to a 'competitor'.. :)

No probs V'ger, you'll find the competition fairly friendly around here :) ..... you can stick that quote back at me a few days from the end of the voting phase! :hihi: :hihi:

1 day and about 18 hours to go! :-o

And here's my second:

A track called : Bits 'n Pieces.

1 x Jb Omniverb
1 x ReaComp
1 x Classic Delay.

Some trackEQ, no automation.

Master Fx :
